Worried I will regret not having more children

Dh and I have talked and neither of us want any more children. My only worry is that I will regret not having another child when I am in my early 40s and both of my children are grown. I will be 43 when my youngest graduates high school. That just seems so young to not have any school age children at home. Just wondering if anyone else thinks about this.

  • you baby is young give it a couple years before making nthat decision

  • Give it a little time and you guys may change your minds, especially since you're young.  I will be 43 when my youngest is 9, so I'm not exactly in your shoes. :)

  • I'll be 47 when my youngest goes to college so I kind of know what you mean.  But I have 3 so I know we're done.  :)

Just give yourself a little time.

  • I will be 35 when my oldest graduates highschool ::gasp::

I will be 48 when my youngest graduates highschool ::gasp gasp::

  • I think if you're worried you'll regret it then you don't know for sure that you don't want any more.  I think if you for sure didn't want any more, you wouldn't be concerned about regretting it later.
  • I worry about this too.  Since I WOHM, daycare is relatively expensive and seriously we would not be able to comfortably afford a 4th for like 7-10 yrs...I don't want that spacing...plus 3 boys scare me!   I worry that one dayI will find myself saying I wish I would have had....my mom says that and she has 3 kids (she did also have a 2nd tri loss) and in fact many of the older women I know say I wish I would had more.  We are done though and I feel good about that decision right now!
