Is this normal? (might be TMI..)

Just wondering if its normal to see a little blood after having sex?

Re: Is this normal? (might be TMI..)

  • My dr has talked to me about this and says yes it is

  • My MW has said that it is very common.  With that said, if it continues for more than 24-36 hours you should give them a call.
  • My doc said there was more blood supply in that area in general and that a small amount is normal.
  • Very! I do almost every single time, but I always have, even before I was pregnant. Sometimes its just a drop or two, sometimes a little more, but it always goes away. The first time we had sex after we found out, I bled a little, and it freaked DH out, and he made me call the doc who just laughed and said as long as there's no cramping or pain, the bleeding stops after a few hours, and I'm not fainting, there's nothing wrong. Your cervix has a lot more pressure on it, and a higher blood flow in the area, so bleeding a little is perfectly normal. I've also found out that different positions aren't possible anymore because of tearing. With my bigger belly we've had to adjust, and sometimes it puts too much pressure on me and that actually makes me tear on the outside. Try and talk to you hubby more openly so he knows what works and what doesn't. I actually had to tell DH he was a little too rough with me, since I'm so much more sensitive, and once he understood that it wasn't that he was doing anything wrong, that I just needed something different, it was fine. The best the to do is really talk everything out, and that way you'll know when something actually happens that you need to worry about.
  • Thank you! I feel relieved now! Yeah, we definitely might have to talk about changing things around...he wasn't even that rough! Glad to know its normal! Thanks again!!!
  • My OB said it could happen and not to be alarmed if it did.
  • Well I wouldn't really know since DH is nervous to have sex, BUT I remember my doctor warning that it could happen, and that it is normal.
