Hoping I can benefit from your experience over here! I'm wondering, when did you first need maternity clothes? I know it's different for everyone, but I'd like to get an idea of what to expect!
I bought maternity close a few weeks ago, but still don't quite need them. Jeans are getting a little snug, so I'm sure it won't be long before I make the transition.
I had lots of bloat until about 11-13 weeks and lived in my bella band with one pair of maternity jeans. But from 13 weeks on I needed mostly maternity pants. I still wear stretchy tanks from my regular wardrobe but adding more and more tops in.

I'm 17 weeks and I can still fit into my regular tops and dresses, so all I've bought so far are maternity pants. I bought my first pair when I was 15 weeks.
I bought mine around 17 weeks... but honestly, all my regular clothes are too small and all my maternity clothes are too big. I should have bought some inbetween... but I really didn't have the money for all that.
I gave up trying to fit into my pants at 13 weeks. I got a couple pairs of pants for work, and a pair of jean capris for weekends. I fill in the gaps with unbuttoned pants and the Bella Band.

I needed maternity shirts before I needed different pants since my belly and boobs seemed to have a mind of their own! I used a Belly Band (Target version of the Bella Band) until about 16 weeks when I had to break down and buy a pair of maternity jeans.
Incidentally, I don't recommend the Motherhood Maternity jeans (even the new ones with the secret fit belly). They are far too stretchy and just uncomfortable. I wore mine all of four times before I hated them and went to Gap to buy a pair of their maternity jeans. I absolutely love the ones I have from Gap (I went back and bought another pair a few days later)! Hope this helps!!

I heard that the ones from the Gap and Old Navy are great. I bought mine at JC Penney and LOVE them. They're really comfortable.
I bought some stuff this weekend for a work trip that's coming up.. Most of my normal clothes fit with assistance, but they're really starting not to look good or feel good. I figured it was better to be safe than sorry and have the maternity stuff standing by, esp. for work.
I bought a couple of work pants early... like 8 weeks becasue I had so much bloat and hated the bellaband. After work and weekends I wore sweats and anything I already had with a draw string. Started wearing maternity tops around week 14.
I didn't like the bella band, or the rubber band trick, so I started buying maternity pants around 10/11 weeks, I think. I bought them at the thrift store, knowing they would only get me through MAYBE the 2nd trimester. Shirts I started wearing 18/19 weeks, when I was starting to really pop.
I started with Bella Band around 13 weeks but didn't move to actual maternity pants until about 21 weeks with my son. I just wore a size bigger in my shirts until I was probably 30 weeks - then I needed actual maternity shirts.
Still in my regular tops - as long as they were loose and long to begin with. Also, still in my regular pants - as long as they were looser also. Jeans with either a bella band or rubber band, but thats getting old, so I have purchased my first pair of maternity jeans yesterday.
I am still wearing all of my reg clothes except for my tight jeans which I gave up a few weeks ago. I think within 2 weeks I will need to start looking into some clothes
I'm pregnant with twins, so showing on the earlier side. I started wearing maternity pants to work at 11 weeks- my pre-preg pants would fit in the morning, but were HORRIBLE halfway through my 12 hour shift. Maternity pants are so much more comfy. I'm still wearing many of my looser regular tops, and yoga pants. Not enough bump yet to fill out most maternity tops, but I have picked up a few on sale for when I need them.
TTC#1 since Mar 2008. Serious MFI due to cancer.
3 cancelled IUI's, just about every test in the book.
IVF#1 - BFP! Twin girls arrived 2/5/10 at 35w2d.
I needed mat. shirts at around 12 wks. I have mat. pants but i have been able to hold off on them due to my Bella Band. I mainly have the mat. pants for work.
I'm 25 wks today and still wearing my regular clothes. But I was a size 16 to begin with and I think being chubbier makes a difference. DH and I can tell but I get comments that I'm not showing. I have gained 5 lbs but US showed baby boy was big!
Gotta be honest, I haven't bought any maternity clothes as of yet. I've been wearing a lot of dresses one size up from my normal size and I bought a bunch of stretchy pants and leggings one size larger. I've gotten away with this up until now but I have to admit, they are starting to get a slight snug. I'm not sure if a large will work for me so I may have to get some maternity stuff soon.
I was in maternity shirts at about 23 weeks. I was able to buy larger (and longer) regular sized tshirts until then. I could wear pre-pg jeans with a bella band until about 30 weeks, & still have one pair to wear this way.

Still wearing normal shirts *thank goodness for the flowier styles* but pants I had to wear maternity starting last week. I can still do the rubber band thing on my jeans but the muffin top was getting to be a bit ridiculous!
About 20 weeks. Before that I used a hair band to hold my jeans together when they wouldn't button anymore.
I never even thought of that!! lol cheaper than a belly band!
cheaper yes, effective yes...make SURE your shirt is long enough!!! lol! My friend had an embarrassing day with that one..I bought the bella band because of it!
My pants were snug around 15wks and had a lone pair of mat capri's that my mom bought me from salvation army or someplace like that and wow if it wasn't AMAZING! Not sure why I waited so long to make a full switch when I never wanted to wear my reg jeans after those....hmmm...odd the way we hang on til the last second??
