Sleeping Arrangements ???

At first we're going to put the baby in our room by our bed so I was wondering ...... if you're doing the same what are you buying for them to sleep in.  I was decided on a bassinet but then I was wondering,  I saw Pack and Plays that have a bassinet type top.....is anyone using those?

Re: Sleeping Arrangements ???

  • Yes, we plan on using his pack n play by the bed as a bassinet for a while.

  • We're getting two bassinetts from our mothers, but they're both very old and I doubt they're still safe, so we won't be using them very much, if at all. We live in a one bedroom apartment, so the crib is in our bedroom, and I'll be using that. But I'd say the pack n play would be perfect, and I've heard of lots of mothers who do that.
  • I didn't register for a bassinet, but did register for the pack and play with the sleeper on top. I will most likely be using that as well. I know a friend of mine used hers for that purpose.
  • We are getting an Arms Reach Co-sleeper.  Similar to a PNP but I like that it fits up right against the bed and that the weight capacity is higher than on a PNP.

  • We are putting a bassinet by our bed, mainly because we don't have the space to put a PNP.

We're getting the cosleeper as well.  I have a friend who used the PNP and she said it worked fine.

  • We're going with the Pack N Play at first.  The baby's room is upstairs, so I think that at first I will want the baby much closer to the room!

  • My GFIL is making us a cradle to use.  She'll be sleeping in that for a bit then moving to her crib in the nursery.

  • We were going to do a bassinet but then we moved and now I don't have a nursery and baby's crib is going in our room. Thank goodness it's huge because we have the crib, dresser and glider in their own little area in our room.
  • We loved the co-sleeper the first time, so we'll be using that again.

  • MIL is giving us the bassent that DH SIL and BIL all were in as newborns.  We are going to put it at the foot of our bed.  The P&P option is completely practical if that fits better for you guys.

  • I used the PnP when DD was in the room with us.  It worked great!

I was thinking about the Arms Reach Cosleeper but I finally decided a Pack n Play would be more convenient. We'd like to get a Graco PnP that comes with a changing table attachment, bassinet and a little newborn napper that looks pretty comfy.

Ultimately it was the changing table aspect that tipped us toward the PnP. Getting two changing tables seems silly but we don't have a good place to change baby in our room.

  • I have the arms reach co sleeper. Its the original not mini so it is a bit bigger than a bassinet and I like how it hooks onto my bed.
  • We used the PNP with bassinet attachment with ds and will be using it again for this baby.  It worked great.
