2nd Trimester

Thanks MIL

So my IL's were bringing some mums over for me last night. The first thing she said when she walked in the door was "If you guys have any extra old shoes, I will help you cut the grass"IndifferentUmm, ok I know it has been a couple weeks since DH cut the grass, but really??

Then we were talking about food. I told her about all I indulged in last week since I am getting my appetite back and she just gave me a look and told me I need to watch what I eat because it isn't as easy coming off. Well no sh!t!!! Thanks for letting me vent about the MIL. Normally she is pretty nice, but she was on a roll last night.

Re: Thanks MIL

  • In-laws can be so weird about things. People will either tell you that you aren't eating enough or that you are over eating. It's nice to get your appetite back and I'm sure you aren't eating a whole cheesecake a day or anything!
The cutting the grass comment is kind of odd.. I would think she meant well though since she was offering to help.

I saw my MIL yesterday also- the first time since before I had a noticible bump. I was expecting her to say something that would come out rude or just annoy me with stupid questions but she really didn't say much at all. But, as soon as we walked in DH's grandparents house yesterday, his grandmother said "here comes the fat lady". She is the sweetest lady and I love her but I really do not care for this type of comment! If it were anyone else I would have said something. She didn't mean anything by it, but still.

The thing is... is we have 1 lawn mower and I can't see her getting out there to help. She gave DH a guilt trip because he's been working 12-14 hr days and hasn't had time to do it. But she is more than welcome to come cut it one day while we're not here:)

  • It seems a bit odd that she would say she would do it, instead of saying your FIL should do it, but that's probably just weird to me because DH's mom doesn't really do anything, she just tells everyone else to. My MIL likes to hound me about excerise too, saying that I'm not getting enough. Umm its not like I can exactly go running around the block at the moment, and anything less than that isn't good enough appearently. She also has all of these "to-do's" and "not-to-do's" for me, but if anyone else says anything about what I should be eating or not eating or whatever, she snaps at them to leave me alone. Does your MIL defend you to anyone, or does she stay quiet when someone says something?

She is normally the quiet type so I definitely can't picture her speaking up. Although at one point I know she asked my friends MIL how much my friend spend on her hair because she thought I was spending too much....
