Okay I posted here a while ago and then took a hiatus towards the end of my pregnancy to hibernate and incubate. :![]()
Now that my little guy is here I needs some advice. When I say little I mean little. He weighs about 6 Ibs, 10 oz. He's a month old but was about three weeks early but otherwise healthy as an ox. We just started CD with Thristies AIO (XS). They have been okay but tend to leak a bit. It might be because he has tiny bird legs. I am looking to move into a OS diaper when he grows a bit more. What OS brands work best? Of course I am guessing that I also need a diaper to bridge the gap between the time he out grows the XS and can fit into the OS. Anyone know of an OS really that works before they hit 12 IBS?
I've ordered a couple via etsy through twinkle toes and monkey snuggle. Has anyone used diapers from these sellers?
Please tell me about your favorite OS...also does anyone have any CDing advice for a mom with a tiny baby?
Sorry for the rambling, I'm having a hard time organizing my thoughts. I'm running on very little sleep.
Re: Talk CD to me..
JCM might have advice on diapering a tiny baby. Her little man was under 5 lbs!
We are planning on using prefolds and covers until he's big enough for some of the OS diapers. Wish I could help more!
Congrats on your LO!
Do you want OS pockets (built-in cover) or OS fitteds (separate cover)?
For OS pockets, I love baby kangas, blueberries, haute pockets, rumparooz, and WAHMies OS all snaps. The last two have a newborn setting, and while they would be pretty bulky on a really little baby, they would likely fit, in my estimation.
For OS fitteds, the only ones I like so far are bububebes. I tried a tiny tush, but it wasn't nearly as absorbent.
Depending on how big he is when he grows out of the XSs, you might actually be able to go straight from those to a OS diaper. We went straight from nb prefolds to OS pockets with no other bridge.
we didn't start cding ds#1 but he was only 6' 5oz at birth and was 6'1oz when we left the hospital. he's alsways stayed at the verry bottom range for weight even though he's really tall - since we started later with him we jumped right into OS dipes and started out with BG's - both pockets and organic aio's. Those fit him the best of those types of dipes - we also have medium thirsties, haute pockets and happy heiny's - none fit him quite as well.
however, we're started to love fitteds much more now and really like the fit of the goodmama's and piddle poddles. we also have some punkin doodles and those work too. and I'm just branching into wool - so I cna't comment yet on it - all our wool is newborn and the new babe isn't here yet for me to test it out!
Yup, our baby was TINY! haha
I don't know about OS that would fit (I would think none would yet) but we had to order new diapers when we found out DS was so tiny. He's in preemie prefolds from Jillian's Drawers and Bummis Superbrite covers in NB work really well! hope that helps! He can also now wear Bum Genius bamboo fitteds (the smallest size), but we onlyhave 3 of those. KL0s are still so big and bulky on him.
