I originally thought I could be ok with it and every says you eventually don't hear them. The fourth or fifth one in the past hour and a half is going by. They run as late as midnight and as early as 5 a.m. Please tell me it gets better? In the future it will def. be a deal-breaker.
Re: NPR: Anyone else live by train tracks?
We're so close you can see it going by through the trees. Luckily we have a fence so I don't have to worry about A. Some people I know say they got so used to it they find it hard to sleep w/out the sound.
Thanks!
Make that # 6. They're busy today.
We do, but we actually really enjoy the sounds of the trains. We're right in the middle of the city so the trains are at slower speeds and dont often use their whistles, but we can definitely hear them (we're less than 300 feet from the tracks but they're down a hill). For us, it was just part of the city living we desired. I know it's not helping right now, but I think "they" are right when they say that you will eventually stop noticing- at least as much.
I grew up with trains and they did grow on us. When DH and I were dating, he would always comment on the trains and I never heard them.
Now, I live off one of the busiest streets in the city and all I hear is sirens all day and night.
