when you stopped taking BCP

did your face go batshitcrazy?  I have not been this broken out since I hit puberty.  Does it eventually calm down once your body gets used to not taking BCP?

Re: when you stopped taking BCP

  • Yes, but mine didn't really start breaking out until about 6 months after quitting BC.

It's gotten better recently but I started using some new face stuff that's specifically for acne.

The weirdest thing for me is that I never ever broke out until I got pg w/ Jackson.  Even as a teenager.  Then while pg w/ him, my face was a disaster, and once I went back on the pill after having him it cleared up.  When I went off, 6 months later my face was a disaster again.

I decided to try AcneFree Severe b/c I'd read some reviews that it was good with adult acne, and I've been using it for 2.5ish weeks now and I've noticed a huge difference.

  • Well, huh. I never put two and two together until just now. I was on bc from 15-22 when I got pregnant, and no acne problems. Then, hot mess during pregnancy. Then when ds was 9 months old I went off bc again and have had more acne than ever. So I suppose that could be it!

  • This is one reason I can not stop taking BCP!

  • Yes!  I never had bad acne as a teenager, then was constantly on the pill from 20-34 and my skin was fine all that time.  Then I went off and O.M.G!  It was so disgusting and it was even on my back.  I went to a dermatologist and got some rx wipes and wash, which helped a little, but it was still bad.  I went back on the pill and things quickly went back to normal.  Went back off a few months later to TTC and got pg the first cycle and my skin stayed good all through the pregnancy and while nursing, but I started breaking out again after my period came back, so I went back on and my skin improved again.

So I don't know if it ever would have calmed down - I gave it several months and it was still bad.  Hope your experience is better than mine!

  • I have it on my back too and it is grossing me out.  Not to mention that my face constantly feels like an oil slick.  I feel like I need to wash it ALL.THE.TIME.  Here's to hoping I get a BFP soon and my face goes back to normal:)
