2nd Trimester

Nose bleeds??

I have noticed this weekend especially, when I blow my nose - there's blood; bright red. It's not like a normal nose bleed where it's pouring, only when I blow....Any one else experiencing this?

I read somewhere where this might happen, wondering if I'm the only one...

Re: Nose bleeds??

  • I have been having this too. Because of our increased blood flow this can/does happen more often during pregnancy, also with the weather changing, that tends to cause this also. I put neosporin or vaseline on the end of a q-tip and gently rub in inside my nose. It strengthens the inside of your nose and moisturizes. Works GREAT!!! :)

  • I live in the high desert (New Mexico--7500 feet), and have this almost all year.  But since being pregnant I have it more often, and times when it doesn't make sense.  If you start having nose bleeds, try drinking more water, and if it feels like your nose is really dry, try putting a little bit of vitamin E oil in each nostril.  Small bits of blood in your boogers wouldn't concern me though.

  • I blow my nose a lot (ahh... pregnancy) and I've had the same thing since about the second tri. Nothing to worry about Big Smile
  • I've had this twice my whole pregnancy, but you're not alone!
  • I have had this exact same thing since the second month of pregnancy. My allergies are horrible, but since getting pregnant I seem to always have drainage. I looked into the bleeding and found that it is normal. My DH isn't conviced and wants to bring it up at my next appoinment. DH is such a worrier.

  • I've had this happen too.  It's random/occasional so I'm not worried at all.

  • I'm getting those too! Saline nasal spray helps if it's really dried out in there.

  • Thanks ladies - DH is worried too - told him that is was prolly nothing. He said he's going to ask the doc. tomorrow AM at our appointment.
  • Same here, although it's not that uncommon for me because of the way the weather has been. I know when my sis was PG she had really bad nose bleeds to the point she called the ER one night it just wouldn't let up. Hopefully it doesn't come to that for us.
