I usually end up being awake most of the night, until about 4 or 5 am (and sleep until 3 pm) simply b/c I can't sleep no matter what I try. I used to take sleeping meds to help me sleep but can't do that anymore. Is this bad for the baby, health wise? I know it may mess up LOs schedule once they're born, but are there any health concerns? I'm trying to get back on a more normal schedule for baby but it's just difficult.
Re: Is my sleeping schedule bad for baby, healthwise?
Your baby has his or her own schedule of sleeping/being awake throughout the day. When you walk and move around, you will often lull your LO to sleep because of the rocking motion within your body. Likewise, when you lay down to go to bed, your LO may notice the change (not moving around anymore) and he or she may wake up or move around more.
As far as I know, there are absolutely no health concerns with your sleeping schedule as long as you're getting enough rest so try not to worry about it!
It's too bad you don't like being nocturnal, because it'd set the baby up for a great diurnal schedule once born! Most newborns have their days and nights mixed up, because as a pp said, the walking and talking all day lulls them to sleep, and when you sleep, it's party time. They want to keep that schedule once born, and it's a big pain in the neck to adjust it.
