2nd Trimester

My "non-comfort food" assignment....

So I am in college and one of my history courses this semester is World of Food...Essentially a fun class but this week's assignment was to go to one of the local ethnic food markets, buy something you've never eaten before and eat it.  Then we type up something about our little adventure...Well, with 2months of m/s and days of queasiness over classics like mac & cheese I think its an understatement to say I was way too nervous to take this seriously and go all out like I would have normally.

I ended up down the ethnic aisle at my local grocery store and bought a bunch of cookies from different countries.  Sweden, Poland, and Mexico specifically.  (Plus some German chocolate but I didn't count that as my assignment...)

The cookies weren't horrible but ugh...I think my sweet tooth is gone!  By the end of trying the 3 types of cookies I didn't even WANT my chocolate!!  *GASP*  So tomorrow I have a chocolate bar to eat :-D  Yay happy endings!!

Re: My "non-comfort food" assignment....

  • LOL! Glad your assignment didn't make you sick!
  • Loading the player...
  • Me too!  Although a couple buddies of mine are in that class and they were gonna cook their "beef goulash" from Greece at my place, they opened the can and I kicked them and their meat in a can out!  ALMOST** lost my cookies...lol
  • Ugh. Beef goulash sounds horrible to me right now!! Ick!

So how many semesters do you have left?

  • Too many!  I dropped my language which is required for my degree because of some tri-college crap that couldn't get sorted out by the last drop/add date so I can't take that until Fall 2010/Spring 2011 now...  Royally sucks because I should've been out Fall 2010 and now am stuck for sure through that Spring semester.  On the plus side, I don't HAVE to take any classes this Spring if I don't want to so I may end up part time student this Spring and get to spend extra time at home with baby girl :-D

Also I may have to go longer than Spring 2011 if Chris gets deployed depending on how much I will need to work while he is gone to keep up with bills etc.  So yah, all in all--I have no clue....I am pretty certain that after getting my Bachelors I will take a break to find a 'real' job and spend some normal hours as a mommy before going on for my Masters though.

  • At least the end is in sight!!! I just graduated in December so I completely understand wanting to be done and going through the frustration of trying to line up classes to graduate!

I hope it works out for you to be able to be a part-time student and stay home with your little girl! That would be so wonderful!

  • Ultimately I never thought I would want to be a full-fledged SAHM but I totally crave it right now...Of course it isn't doable but my hubby keeps looking for jobs that would give him a more set schedule and possibly enough pay to make that happen.  It would be amazing but in this market is not an immediate possibility though we keep hoping.  For now, we both work retail and continue with school although he has degrees, he still gets GI Bill so he keeps going to school online while he gets paid to do it...No harm there!

Congrats on the graduation :)  Can't wait to join you on the other side of campus gates!!
