Weird question..

Do any of you who are having PTL with dilation or cervical shortening afraid to, um, push when going #2?  For fear of exacerbating the problem?  

 

Just curious if I am the only one who worries about this.

    completely different situation (i had a previa), but i was totally freaked out. my second (of four) bleeding incidents was from "pushing"! i have no idea about PTL and dilation, i just wanted to say i could relate!

    I worry about the same thing!  The last time I went in for my cervix measurement, I had to take care of a little business before my appt.  Well, I kept teasing with my husband, asking if he thought that the significant shortening that was discovered was due to my pushing before the appt. Zip it!

    I don't have PTL, I'm another previa case, but YES, can totally relate.  There's some scary possibilities to pooping, and the nurses don't mention them, but that doesn't keep me from thinking about it.

    I had a cerclage placed for incompetent cervix that was shortening and funneling.  Doc said NO pushing.  Prune juice is the magic trick!!!
