I just spoke to the advice nurse and she suggested I take him into the weekend peds clinic tomorrow morning to get tested for H1N1. He has a cough, runny nose and minor fever (101 degrees). Normally I wouldn't have called or worried about him, but since I am pregnant, the Swine Flu scares the living crap out of me. Ugh. I am sure it is nothing, but better to be safe than sorry. Cross your fingers for a negative culture tomorrow. Thanks

Re: Taking Eric to get tested for Swine Flu
This is gonna sound nuts, but I'd actually HOPE that it's H1N1. It doesn't sound like he's super sick and I'd rather just get it over with rather than waiting all year to see if I'll be stricken
I have thought of that too except that I guess I don't know how it would affect ME even though it seems mild for him (if it is H1N1), KWIM??? I do think I'll be freaked out about it all winter long though since I work in a hospital.

My son had a similiar virus last week. They never tested him, because my pedi thought he would be more run down. But I think he may have had it.
Good luck to you!
From what I've read, it sounds like fever (over 102 for a prolonged period of time in the 1sttrimester) and pneumonia are the major concerns for pregnant women. It is my best understanding that they think the pneumonia results later on when the baby is big and women have a harder time breathing.....but I could be wrong on that. We are TTC and I start back to school with my students on September 8th. It's a major concern of mine, so I totally understand you!
