Is your pedi open on Sun.?

I am just curious (and bored-lol). Mine isnt, only on Sat.So if God forbid something serious happened we would have to go to the ER.

Re: Is your pedi open on Sun.?

  • My current Pedi. is open on Saturday, although not all the Dr's are in. The Pedi.I will be switching to is open on Sat. and Sun if needed. The new one also does not have an answering service, but the Dr's actually pick up the phone!

  • Nope and only for 4 hours on Saturday. Appointments fill up fast on sat too so if you need one you have to call right at 8 when they open.

  • Nope, and only open a few hours on Sat.   Quite honestly if it was something really serious I would go to the ER before going to the pedi.

  • Yes.  They're open from 8:30pm until 2pm on Sundays.

One of the doctors is always at the hospital.  So, if something happens after hours that doesn't require rushing to the ER (they're open until 9pm during the week), we meet them at an office at the hospital.

We've only been told to go to the ER twice - once when DD1 had a bad stomach virus and was throwing up brown and dehydrated and once when DD2 fell and hit her head.  Other than that, they'll have you meet them at the office in the hospital after hours.

  • Nope, just in the morning on Saturday.  There's a pediatric urgent care across the street he recommends if there's an after hours emergency.  The one time I called their answering service on a weekend, the on-call doctor got back to me quickly, so I feel like we're pretty well covered.

That's pretty cool! One time I had called my pedi after hours, and a doc from another group called me back. I was worried about my 2 mo. old at the time. He met me at his office around 930 to ease my mind. I thought that was pretty awesome.

  • Nope.  We have an awesome weekend/after hours children's clinic close by though!
  • Our pedi practice is opem on Saturdays through flu season. They are open Mon - Fri and usually try to schedule on sick visits on Monday

  • Ours is open for a couple of hours on Sunday, but if I couldn't get in there, there's an urgent care center near us that is open from 8 to 5 or something like that.

I have called the on call nurse line to get advice about stuff on a Sunday, and they're pretty helpful.

Once, the on call doctor let us come over to her house to see Thomas and give us a prescription for antibiotics.  It was 10:00 on a Sunday night, the day before Memorial Day.  I was sooo grateful we didn't have to go to the ER.

Wow! That's the kind of Dr. I need. While I don't doubt my current pedi's medical knowledge, his bed side manner is in need of a makeover. He may have seen 10,000 allergic reactions, but this is my kid and I'm worried.
