anyone not re-use crib bedding for next baby?

dd's not really using her crib bedding anymore, never really used the quilt or bumper.  I like it and all but feel like when we have our next baby I want to have something different if nothing else just for variety but this isn't very frugal thinking on my part.

  • I'm not trying to snark on you, but if you didnt even use the quilt or bumper for the first baby, why would you buy a whole new set for #2? Would you use it?

  • For DC #1 we did not have a crib set- just had a coordinating fitted sheet/dust ruffle/lamp/rug/baskets.

We just sold all of it on Craigs List for about 60-70% of what we paid.

This time around for baby #2 I bought some cute stuff from Ikea- we got everything for under $50.  So, the sale of those items pretty much paid for the new items! :)

  • yeah I've thought about this which is one reason I'm thinking of selling dd's stuff really soon.  We did have the quilt hanging on the wall and had the bumper in the crib for a very short time and used the mobile and hamper and rug and valance.  It all helped make her room look complete.  I guess saying we didn't use the bedding isn't completely accurate, just my dd never really came into contact with it.

  • I bought new bedding.  DS's was Caden Lane and very boyish colors.  I just bought DD Caden Lane bedding in very girly colors.  Besides, his bumper was squished to hell and back from us leaning over the crib to pick him up and from him pulling on it for months.

  • We did not use the same bedding.  However, for my first son I bought the complete set complete with bumper, quilt etc which we didn't use.  With my second son I just bought the valance, crib skirt, and sheets.  I sold my first set to someone I knew, and I sold the second on ebay. I plan on buying buying new for the next one.  Honestly, its a waste of money but I get bored quickly and just didn't want to reuse it, I wanted something different!
  • I won't be reusing ds's. He's still in his crib and we used the bumper as well. Ours is Caden Lane as well and the bumpers are squished. It's very boyish in color and even if this baby is another boy I'm just ready for something new.

  • The only bedding I used  for Jacob was the crib skirt and the fitted sheets. The bumper we used, but my pedi told me to take it out when I told her he liked to press his face against it. We got a mesh "breathable" one instead. I'm reusing everything for dd. It's gender neutral and I'll accent the room with more girly decorations. I can't see spending money on all new stuff, esp since this is our last one!
