2nd time c/s moms...

what did you take to the hosital with you?

Natch, I haven't packed my bag yet, and my sugery is scheduled for Wednesday at noon. I think I'm hesistant b/c I packed way too much last time. And, what I did pack (clothes wise), I didn't end up wearing (b/c I was so effing swollen afterwards).

I know to take toiletries and nursing bras, however, is it worth taking multiple pairs of pajamas, underwear, etc., especially since the hospital will be providing most everything I'll need?

  • I was more comfy in my own PJs so I brought 3 pairs (you never know when you are going to bleed thru one or whatever).  Other than that, not much.  An outfit to wear home - with some regular underwear to wear home.

Toiletries.  I didn't even bring bras and I wouldn't have worn them even if I did!  ;)

    That's about it.

  • Last time I packed WAY too much so I scaled down and still didn't wear the robe or other comfy clothes I brought until the day I went home- otherwise I was in my gown and hospital undies. Definitely toiletries and snacks (my DH loved me for this) and stuff to read/do because the baby sleeps all.the.time. So unless I had visitors I was slightly bored lol! Best of luck if I don't get on here before Wednesday! It's a fun ride!!! :)

  • The 2nd time around I was so glad I brought some of my own PJs. I don't know why, but it just made me feel more human or something. So I brought a couple (like Jodi said, in case you bleed through). I didn't even bring undies - I just wore the mesh things.  good luck - it's right around the corner!!!!
  • I took a Glamour Moms gown because that's how I am...it was way more comfortable than the hospital gown and easier access to nurse.  I did NOT take nursing bras...I was braless the whole time because most of the time I had a baby attached to me.  I took one pair of panties for going home...I wore the mesh ones in the hospital.  I used the big honkin' pads they provided in the hospital.  Other than a gown or two and a robe and slippers for walking the halls, I just wore what I wore TO the hospital HOME from the hospital since it was only on for less than an hour the morning of my C.  I took a pillow from my bed because mine are way more comfortable than the hospital ones.  I also took one for DH because he spent the night each night with me.  Oh, and I had someone bring me a small table top fan because I was hot as helll afterwards.  Guess it was my hormones raging because I had the air jacked all the way down and was still sweating!  The fan definitely came in handy!

  • I took nursing tanks and a pair of pajama pants, but for the most part I was happy to bleed all over their gowns rather than my own clothes.  I just brought a pair of undies to wear home and wore the mesh ones from them while I was there.

I will say that I recovered sooooo much more quickly this time and really had little pain at all within about 12 hours of the surgery.  The first time I was miserable, but this time I felt like I could run a marathon by the time we came home, a day early.

  • Haha I am in the same boat.  My c/s is scheduled for Tuesday and I haven't packed yet either.  I did make a list and here is what I have: slippers, socks, yoga pants, tshirts, toiletries, camera, cell phone, and laptop.  I also have presents for the kids, the baby book, baby outfits and a blanket.  I hate wearing nightgowns so the pants are a must.
