DD says Boo Boo when I change her???

She points to her "frontal area" not her vagina or anything specific and says boo boo. She squirms when I try to wipe that area as well. I don't see anything red, no cuts, nothing suspicious. She is in a boo boo phase and points out every mark on her or our bodies. Do I chalk it up to her not wanting to be wiped or a boo boo phase? Should I have her seen by the pediatrician? I would hate to ignore it and have something be wrong.

Re: DD says Boo Boo when I change her???

  • I would say wait a little bit if it doesn't seem to be really bothering her. Like over the weekend. If by Monday she is still saying it, then I would take her in. Hope it's nothing!

  • Thanks, I'll give it the weekend.

  • Ditto pp. I would just give it a few days and see if she stops. DD is in this phase of "ouch" and I noticed she says it to her belly, hand, butt, etc....

  • Dd got a booboo on her knee more than a month ago. We put a bandaid on it, and kissed it and it was "all bebber"

She still points to her knee and says booboo. She also continually asks of a bandaid on her elbow. Nothing ever happened to her elbow. Keep and eye out and see if she changes etc. Dd will sometimes scratch or point or play with that area during changing/bath time. If she seems more agitated by it than usual I ask if she wants some magic cream. (Diaper cream)

  • She may not want to be wiped, it may be a boo boo phase, or she may have begun to notice the anatomical features of that area and be trying to ask about them.  My son sometimes asks if something is a boo boo when the question, really, is "what's that?"

You might try an answer like "That's not a boo boo, that's your vulva."  (Or use your preferred words for the area - if you don't have preferred words yet, pick some now.)
