Nicknames for Patricia

Help me think of some creative nickames for Patricia.  It's my mom's name, and I love the full name, but I'm not loving Patty, Pat, Patsy, Tricia, Ricki....

Our LN is VERY long, so she's need a nickname.

What about Reese?  Too much of a stretch?

Re: Nicknames for Patricia

  • I have one friend named Patricia and she goes by Trish...I don't know how you feel about that. I def do not like Pat or Patty either.

  • My mom's name is also Patricia! My middle name is Patrice, after her but slightly different. Not sure how you feel about that one.

I think Reese is a stretch. What about Patricia as the middle name? Or some form of it as the mn.

  • What about Tia?  :)

  • My mom's best friend is a Patricia and she goes by Tish or Tia.
    Mom to J (10), L (4), and baby #3 arriving in July of 2015
  • I had a little girl in my class last year named Patricia.  She went by Tish or Tisha.
  • I like Tricia.

My mom goes by Pat now...she hated Patty growing up. Not a fan of Tish at all. And I guess if you want a nickname totally different (but loosely based) I would use Patricia as a middle name and find a first you really love : )

We considered Patrick for DS...so maybe something to consider down the road for you since Patricia is a bit outdated.

  • trish would be my nn for patricia.

I think Reece is way too far of a stretch.

  • rissa?

  • Tia would be cute.
  • Okay, you may want to flame me but I think it's cute.  I met a German mom thru a local organization who named her daughter "trixie", after a beloved family friend.  I think it's adorable.  But, to each his own!
  • Unless you're Hispanic and pronouncing it "Pa-trees-ee-uh" then it's a stretch. You could do Reese Patricia. Tia is OK but NMS.

My mom's name is Patricia and I love her dearly but I wasn't going to name any of my kids that name, at least as a FN.

I think for the most part naming someone a FN after someone and then using a totally different name says, "I love you, but I really, really hate your name."

Other options--does your mom have a cool maiden name or middle name?

  • I think if you use Patrice as the FN, you could def. use Reese as the NN.
  • i also think reese is a stretch.  trish is cute.  personally, i would use it as a mn.

  • I know a Patricia who goes by "Panchy," but it seems to sound a little better in Spanish (she's Puerto Rican) than English.
