DD can't latch properly, so I've been using a nipple shield (she wasn't gaining without it). Even with that, my nipples have never healed -- they're still blistery and raw. The LC told me to use polysporin, which I've been doing, but it's not really doing much. I've read that Newman's Nipple Cream/Ointment can work wonders. When I called my doctor's office today to ask them to call in a prescription for it, they'd never heard of it. Any advice for what I can do? How can I get them to write a prescription if they've never heard of it??
Re: Help -- doc has never heard of Newman's Nipple cream??
Thank you all SO much!
I just talked with the nurse when I called today (she was the one who hadn't heard about it, althought she said she checked with one of the doctors). I have my post partum appointment soon -- I'll definitely bring in the prescription (thanks for the email address!) and talk to my doctor about it.
I also bought the stuff to mix my own version (from the link). I did that, so maybe that will do some good until I can get in to see my doctor.
Is polysporin safe for the baby? Lansinoh Lanolin worked really well for me.

Don't use lanolin w/raw open sores....Will create an environment for yeast and therefore thrush. It traps in the moisture. Not good...
