A good and bad OB appt

Good news is, I passed my 1 hour! Woo hoo!!

Bad news: Since my OB is on maternity leave, I saw a new one today. Honestly, if she's the one that ends up in the delievery room, I'm going to pitch a fit. Seriously, if we didn't already know, we'd have no idea if what came out was a boy or a girl.

This woman said NOTHING. Just introduced her self, checked the heart rate, and wished me luck on the GD test.

I have no idea how much weight I gained between appointments (my regular OB knows I threw my scale away, so I rely on her to tell me my weight gain), no clue what my BP is, and no idea whatever came of my lab tests from last week regarding my possible yeast infection.

And I didn't even have time to grab her and ask, cause she flew out the door before I had the chance!

I have to see her once more before my regular OB comes back and I'm not happy about it. Thank GOD she isn't my OB!!

  • Is your OB the only OB in the practice?

My OB has 5 drs in the practice.  3 women and 2 men and we have to see all of them at least once during the pregnancy to get us familiar with them in case they are on call when we go into labor.  I like my OB the best though.  Not happy with many of the others yet, but we shall see.

No, there are a handful of them, but I don't see male doctors (God forbid one shows up on delivery day!) and the other females were booked unfortunatly.

I am so uncomfortable with the male drs too, and am hoping that I deliver on a day when a female is on call.  But they're such a good practice and I love my OB that I don't want to change.  So I have scheduled my apts with the males for times when I am not getting a vaginal done.  And then just keeping my fingers crossed on L&D day.  But we have to see everyone in the practice.  That way the drs know us and we know them.  Though I could really care less to know the male drs.  (i care to a certain extent but not fully).

  • I was totally against a male OB, but finally my mom talked me into trying a highly reccomended one. It was the BEST choice I made! I LOVE him!!!!
  • I don't get it- do you ladies not have male GYNs, either? I used to prefer a female but I've actually found the males to be more comfortable since then. I have a male GYN and a male OB now and I have a feeling the last thing I'll care about during labour is whether a strange man is the one catching my baby.
