?? if you measured ahead

I had my 28 week appt today (and did not get to schedule my c/s. Boo!) and the dr said I was measuring at 30 weeks.  She said it was still considered normal and that I was probably just going to have a big baby.  So, if you measured ahead

1.  Did you have a big baby?

2.  Did you have the baby early?

Re: ?? if you measured ahead

  • I measured about 3 weeks ahead from around 20something?) weeks on.

    1. He was 8lbs, 6oz - big baby for me!

    2.  He was 10 days early - Thank goodness, he probably would have been around 10lbs at 40 weeks.

eta: I also starting receiving ultrasounds every 2-3 weeks once I was measuring ahead. Fluid was normal, etc. He was just big. (I was about 5'2", 100lbs pre-preg).

  • I measured ahead a few times, and right on track at others. Sometimes it's just that the baby hits a growth spurt right before an appointment so they measure bigger for that time, but then their growth evens out in the next few weeks.

With DD, I measured ahead early on and then on schedule towards the end. She was born at 36 weeks at just under 6 lbs (which is average for a 36 weeker).

With DS I measured right on almost the entire pregnancy, never ahead. He was born at almost 38 weeks at 8 lbs.

  • I measured ahead both times.  With #1, I measured up to 5 weeks ahead and had fluid that was on the high side of normal.  With #2 I measured up to 3 weeks ahead and had normal fluid.  #1 was born a couple days early and was almost 8 lbs.  #2 was born a week early via scheduled c/s and was 7.5 lbs.  Both times I evened out in the weeks before birth too.
  • I measured 3-4 weeks ahead starting around 30 weeks. DS was 7lb 14oz and he was 3 days late (I was induced). But, I'm also 5'2" with a pretty short torso... so, I think he just had no where to go but out. Wink

  • I measured 1-2 weeks ahead starting around 24 weeks.  I measured 42 weeks when I was 38 weeks and delivered at 39 weeks.  He was 9lbs 5 oz and 22 in long.

  • I measured 2 weeks behind towards the end.  My dr said it would just be a small baby.  I was convinced otherwise b/c I could feel that she was bigger than my others.  Sure enough, she was close to 9 lbs.  I'm sure the measurements were just due to how low I was carrying her.  Oh, and she was a week late (induction).

  • Yes, 9lbs 1 oz

    11 days early.

i also had an us/ every 2 to 4 wks nce he was measuring ealry. Had I gone to 40 wks he would have been close 11lbs they said, YIKES!

  • Always measured 1 week ahead with dd and she was induced 5 days early because my amniotic fluid was low. She was 8 pounds 10 ounces and 20 inches long. She def would have been over 9 pounds if we waited until the due date.
