I'm going to give this a shot soon because we are spending copious amounts of money on sushi lately. The kids love it, too, so that doesnt help the budget.
If you do make it, do you have any books you'd recommend? I'm looking at a few books on Amazon and I already have some supplies and I've watched sushi being made enough to know "how", but any practical advice or tips would be good ![]()
ETA: We have a fish monger near us that sells sushi grade fish (and supplies most of the local sushi restaurants!), so that's not a problem.
Re: Does anyone make their own sushi at home?
My home sushi experience consists of watching Samantha make it in the Sex in the City movie.
Try YouTube. There are videos for everything.

My husband does. I can check the book he has after work.
Two things I know that are important. Follow the directions for the rice closely, especially if you are using a rice cooker. You really need to rinse the rice well before cooking.
Also, don't over do the rice on the nori paper or it will be impossible to roll.
