Ds's favorite treat lately, something that he calls milk coffee:
A small splash of coffee (less than an ounce) and a small spoon of sugar mixed together with a mug of cold milk.
He loves it (he's always done everything in his power to steal my coffee even when he was a toddler) and I figure that it can't have any more caffeine than chocolate milk and probably less sugar.
Would you let your preschooler drink this or is coffee strictly for adults only in your household?
Re: Would you let your preschooler have this?
I don't drink coffee, but when DH does he tells DS its a "daddy only drink." DS doesn't really care and moves on about his day.
If he really wanted to have some, the amount your giving sounds fine.
(IMO)
probably, if he liked it... but he does not. He was trying to taste my coffee when he was little and I let him and he did not like it, lucky me!
I do give my boys some tea in the winter though, especially if they're sick. Tea & honey, what can be better?
I was always given that as a child and it didn't appear to harm me! I don't even really drink coffee now, so it didn't set me up for a lifelong caffeine addiction, either.
No I would not because I like the boundary of certain things being for adults and certain things being for children in our house. The coffee itself is somewhat inconsequential..it's more the point.
