Working Moms

This made me laugh

My best friend doesn't have kids yet.  Yesterday she emailed me about her TTC plans and said she wished she could just get pregnant now because work is really stressful and she'd love 12 weeks off.  Yup, being at home with a newborn is a great stress reliever.  heh

  • What a dork.  She deserves two slaps up.

  • Ha! I remember thinking this before my first child. The 2nd half of my leave with DS was pretty nice, though. Though work = solitary cup of coffee.
  • Bwhahahahaha!!!  I just remember the sheer relief of being able to return to work after maternity leave.

Me, too!  It was NOT a vacation, and the first 6 or 8 weeks, I really felt like couldn't do too much out of the house.  What does she think she's going to be able to do with a NB that would be so great?

  • Being home with a newborn is a different kind of stress than the being at work kind.  I understand your friends statement and honestly, I loved being away from work for 12 weeks with both my leaves.  Both times, there was a ton going on at the office and I was very happy to not be there, to be enjoying the lack of sleep and all the other fun stuff of newborns rather than dealing with my work issues.  It was 12 weeks off from getting dressed up, going into the office, working crazy hours, etc

  • My 27 yr old sister said the exact same thing last week and I wrote her a seriously long email detailing what its like to be pregnant, give birth and then be home with a baby AND have that child be your responsibility until they are an adult..hahaha...I love my DD but being a mom is hard work and stressful too!

  • My first maternity leave was stressful.  But after working full time and caring for a toddler, my second maternity leave was a total vacation. I was so relaxed and couldn't remember why I thought it was so hard the first time!

Cleaning my house and doing laundry, watching Bravo tv marathons, going to the park with the kids in the afternoon - I loved it!
