Infertility

***epphd***

I need your hcg advice again. beta #4 was a 64% rise from beta #3, according to that snazzy website you sent me:

19dpo = 1157

22dpo = 2422

The nurse said it's within normal limits but if I'm nervous about the lack of doubling I could come in again on Saturday. Honestly, I think I'd just rather wait for the first u/s next week. What good is one more beta number going to do me at this point? would it really affect our u/s plans?

Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

  • ::butting in b/c I'm nosy and bored:: Wink

    First, your beta was a 64% rise on day 2, not day 3. Since you had them 3 days apart, it is different. It is still rising well!!!

    Second, hCG usually doubles every 48-72 hours and it normally increases by at least 60% every two days.  As your pregnancy develops, the increase slows down significantly. Between 1,200 and 6,000 mIU/ml serum, the hCG usually takes about 72-96 hours to double.

    You're so on the right track Big Smile. Have they scheduled an u/s yet?

  • Butting in to ditto Duke's girl, once your betas are over 1200 they start to slow down with the doubling. You are doing wonderful! I know how hard the first tri is, so many emotions and trying to come to terms that this is really it... for you this IS really it!!!

     It helps to see that little bug beating away at the u/s, then you will be calm for a few days!

    (((hugs)))

    A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
    After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
    My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • What they said :)

    You're good! And you're still above average for your DPO according to betabase and babymed.  My doc stopped doing betas after the third, and that was a paltry 850.  GL with the wait to the u/s; I can't wait to hear about it!!
