Infertility

New here - introduction

I've been lurking for a few weeks, but was waiting for this last cycle to be over before jumping in (to avoid that drive by BFP thing in case I got lucky).  Today is cd1 of cycle 9, a few days away from month 12.  I was referred to an RE before the one year mark by my OB because of long irregular cycles, and painful periods.

I have met with my RE and had an initial u/s, which revealed what is likely an endometrioma on my left ovary.  I have also had all the initial bloodwork.

Tomorrow I go for cd3 b/w and I have sono scheduled for next wednesday and an HSG on thursday.  The HSG is freaking me out the most.

While I can't say I am happy to be on this board, I am certainly happy for such a supportive community.  I am sure I will have lots of questions in the near future.

2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • Welcome!  I too was freaked out for the hsg.  Honestly, mine turned out to be a piece of cake, and I'm a BIG baby.  The anticipation was much worse than the procedure.
  • Welcome! So sorry you have to join us, but the ladies on here are wonderful.

The HSG isn't really that bad, I also had a Lap done so I was out. But the recovery was painless and speedy and all is well now. Wishing you all the luck.

I hope your stay here is short and sweet.

  • Welcome!  I remember you from GP.  Sorry you have to be here.

The HSG is really no big deal...it's over in a matter of minutes.  Just a bit more uncomfortable than a pap.

    Best of luck to you.

  • Welcome and sorry you have to be here too. Those initials visits and tests at RE can be overwhelming. If you have any questions or concerns post them and you'll get lots of great advice and support. Hope you get some good results this week and next.

  • Welcome and Good Luck
  • Hi!  I'm also new to TTTC.  I hope everything goes well for you this week and next!  I've never had an HSG b/c I don't have tubes, but try not to worry.

    GL!

  • Welcome and good luck with your journey.  Hopefully you won't be here long!
  • Hi!  Your story sounds very much like mine!

My period has also gotten out of hand- in my case I was bleeding about 2 weeks out of every month- and very uncomfortable all the time. My GYN sent me for an ultrasound and I had a large endometrioma on my right ovary.

Are they recommending removal? One of the dangers is that the mass can crowd out and destroy normal tissue. I had surgery in July to remove the mass, reconstruct my ovary (Don't let them take your ovary out!) and also was diagnosed with severe endometriosis.

I just went to my RE today for CD3 and have a large fluid cyst-so I have to go on BCPills. I am starting IUI.

Also - make sure your husband gets a semen analysis too! MFI is sadly all to common :(

Also- I just moved from Claymont to Missouri. I see you live in Greenville! Just wanted to say hi! I miss all my DE friends. I am  actually coming back to work intermittantly in DE since I can't find local work in Missouri.

Best of luck- and if you have any questions feel free to ask- I am a few months ahead of you it sounds like.

  • Welcome, and best of luck on your journey. Hopefully you don't need to stay here too long :)

I will probably end up having lap surgery and they will remove whatever they find then, but I don't plan on letting them take my ovary!  H is getting SA done as soon as he schedules it.

That must be quite a pain to commute back here for work!
