how about costco??? Anyone ordered prints from them?? Sometimes they have a coupon for 9 cents a picture. I have tons of pics that I need to print and think this would be a good deal!
A while ago I ordered the same 10 prints from a variety of places to compare the quality. Not very scientific but I love photography so good prints are important to me. Here is what I found:
MPIX - won by a landslide. Their pictures are crisp, the paper is great quality and the colors are by far the most true. But...you get what you pay for. I think the prints were .29 cents or around that price so it cost more than other places. I use them for any print I want to hang up in my home or give as gifts and all enlargements.
Shutterfly- They were the next best. The price was great and the paper was definitely better than snapfish and the others. The colors weren't as good as MPIX but MUCH better than Snapfish.
I had a real problem with Snapfish with indoor pictures. Outdoor were fine with the colors. All the indoor pictures tended to have an orange/red tint. I re-ordered the pictures to see if it was just a fluke but the pictures again came out orange for the indoor pics.
Kodak was ok. Not my favorite and not the worst. I didn't get the pro-level Endura prints the pp mentioned- that must be new. The paper wasn't great but the printing was ok- just not as sharp and clear as shutterfly.
The worst were Walgreens and a few other drug stores. I wouldn't even get the free prints when they offered them at Christmas. The paper was flimsy and the printing was dreadful. Cheap- yes but again, you get what you pay for.
I didn't try Costco. If they're 9 cents a picture, I may give it a shot and see how their quality is. I just don't know.
Hope this helps!
3 IUI's and 2 IVF's later- Brady arrived. Born at 36 weeks after PUPPS and pre-e/HELLP.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again
I did my christmas cards thru shutterfly as well as our STD cards for our wedding. I really thought the quality was great and I got a lot of compliments on them. I did not know about MPIX at the time, but I have heard good things about them too. Also, I have done 2 shutterfly books and thought the quality was good! Also, the turn around time was very fast! GL!
Ok, I went on the Kodak website, and to get their pro line, its 0.30/print. BUT- I get 50% off my first order. That's not too bad right? (I'm printing all of our wedding pictures since we finally got them!) Oooh, and if I do large prints and they are 50% off as well, not a bad deal at all!
Re: Have you ordered prints from Shutterfly?
Kodak Gallery now offers pro-level Kodak Endura prints. I would go there.
Or MPIX, where you can specify that they do not color correct the prints.
Anything is better than Walgreens or Walmart.
I have also heard good things about MPIX.
