Height at 2 year appointment X 2 ???

I'm sure you've heard this, but if you double DC's height at the 2 year appointment to figure out how tall s/he will be as an adult. 

If this is correct, DD will be 5' 8.5".   

I'm barely 5'5" and DH is barely 5'7".  So that doesn't seem right!  Unless some tall genes from my family's side are slipping in.  (Genes I wasn't blessed with.)

 

What was your child's height at 2?   If you double the number do you think it's a good guess?

I have heard that. DS was 36 inches at his 2 year appointment, which would put him at 6 feet. I personally think he will be taller than that - I am the shortest in my family at 5'9" (my dad is almost 6'6", my sister is 6 even). DH is 6'1" and his dad and brother are taller...I really hope DS makes it to at least 6'2" or 6'3".

DS is now 37 inches (3'1) and he's right on for 6'2 or 6'4.

She was 30.5"...can't be right...I am 5'9" and Dh is 6'...and I am the shortie in my family and DHs.

i've heard this, and i have to confess, i've been a bit obsessed with it. i just measured one of them today and he was 34" tall, which would put him at 5'8". but we still have 3 more months of growing, whew!

5'8" is FINE - dh is about 5'5", and i know he wants the boys to be taller than him.

DD was 32", so she'd be about 5'4", which sounds about right. I'm 5'6" and DH is 5'5", and all of our families are short.

I hope not!  DD was 37 inches which would put her over 6 feet!  I'm only 5'3" and DH is 5'8", so that would be very surprising.  My dad however is 6'3" so I guess it's not impossible.

Sounds about right.  DS was 36.5 inches, so he'd be a little over 6 feet.  All the guys in my family are 6'1 or taller, though DH is only 5'8, so DS has some short genes in there too.

DS was 34.5 in at 2 yr so that would make him about 5'9" which is probably right. I am 5'3" and DH is 5'8". All the men in DH's family are short.

I guess my DD is going to be like me - nearly 6ft.  I tower over my mother, which was always fun.  She's barely 5'2".

Have not heard of this before. DS is almost 2 and is 3 feet. So he would be 6 feet tall!

From one pregnancy brain sufferer to another, I say "yes". (LOL)

As for my DD, she is 35" today, her 2nd bday, and that will put her at 70" which is 5'10" (is that right?). I am 5' 7.5" and DH is only 5'6", but my great-gpa was 6'6". Who knows. She's 80th percentile right now for both height/weight.

We aren't there yet but at his 18 month appt. He was about 32 inches.  I am not expecting him to be tall since I'm barely 5'2 and DH is lucky if he is 5'6.

My older DD was 33inches at a year, so that would make her 5'5" which seems possible.  I am 5'4" and DH is 5'8" but both of our Dad's are taller and so is my mom but all of our sister's are tiny and my DD has always been in hte 25% or below for height.  My younger DD is 17 months now and averaging a little taller than her sister so we'll see.

I have heard this before too.  DS was 37" at his 2 year appt.  Which would make him 6'2".  I am hoping that it's accurate!  lol.  I would love it if he were tall like that!!  I am 5'8" and DH is 5'10".  All of my family is pretty tall, though.

DS was about 35 3/4 inches, very close to 36.  which would make him about 6 ft.  that would be about right.  DH is 6ft, my bro 6ft, FIL 6ft.

 I am shortest in my family and I am 5-4.  My mom and dad are both 5-9.

The formula is to double the height at 2 years old

Subtract 6 inches for girls

Add 6 inches for boys.

Actually it would be 5'4"

32"x2=64".  5' = 60 inches, that's 4 inches left over = 5'4".  If you are using a calculator and dividing 64 by 12, it comes to 5.333 -- but that's 5 and 3/10ths (not 3/12ths)
