Birth control question

I had my 6 week pp check up yesterday.  My doctor said that going back on Ortho Tri CyclenLo would be fine, but that I should wait until 2 months pp to minimize supply issues.  I've done some internet research and it seems that the liklihood of having supply issues is high regardless of when I'd start.  Does anyone have any insight?  I certainly don't want my supply to tank after just 2 months.

Re: Birth control question

  • You read my mind. I went to the doc today and talked about it. I'm on the patch (Ortho Evra) and my supply was litterally cut in half in the last week. There isn't a whole lot available that won't tank supply. I've been reading about Mirena and I'm going to call doc tomorrow. It intrigues me. If I have time, I'll jump on let you know what I find out!

  • I was on a mini-pill with DS#1 and it severly affected my supply....I'm grinning and bearing it this time with condoms :(
  • my ob prescribed thre minipill because other bc tanks supply.  however, i've heard so many on here say it happened with the mini pill also, so i'm not taking it,  We are just, uh.,..being careful?
  • We used condoms and the billings method for BC for the first year.  At that point I started taking seasonique because my periods were horrible.  I have not had supply issues, but DS is also a year old and he does not nurse nearly as much as he did a year ago.  Before I went on seasonique, my Dr and I discussed a plan to deal with supply issues, our plan went as follows, stop taking seasonique immediately, place a call into the emergency line for the on call doctor to prescribe reglan to help with supply.  We felt supply should be back within a few days.

  • I had a Mirena put in at 6 weeks and did not have any issues with supply. Though Mirena is not for everyone, my experience has been good.

  • Sorry it took me so long to get back!! My doc was on vacation. I'm getting it put in next week. All the research I've done seems positive, so I'm crossing my fingers that as soon as the OrthoEvra is out of my system, I'll get some milk back!
