I have a family history of having trouble getting pregnant, taking a long time, so my doctor gave us six months on our own and then we were to come back. At that point I was dx with PCOS.

Looking back, I probably should have known something was up with me by my crazy painful, long, and heavy periods ever since I got my first one. Maybe I was in denial, but we didn't really know until almost two years into TTC, when we had our first RE appointment. We don't regret waiting so long to seek medical help though. We gave it the good ol' college try on our own.
My sister suffered from infertility so it was always in the back of my mind I would have issues to, it just took me a few years of trying on my own to come to terms with it.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I knew something was up 6 months after I got married when my periods were non-existent. I was then diagnosed with PCOS 5 months later and we really started TTC 2 years after that (but we didn't prevent either).
For me it was two things. (1) We knew there was a potential problem due to a childhood illness dh had which impacted his poor swimmers and (2) after trying for a year on our own I suspected there was something greater than just not having luck.
3 IUI's, 2 IVF's , 1 FET , 1 IVF w/ Gestational Carrier, and 1 FET using adopted embryo's = ALL BFNs We are adopting!
SAIF/PAIF IS ALWAYS WELCOMED TO POST IN MY POSTS!!!
I had an intense fear/feeling that I would have trouble before we even started trying. I came off BCP and charted for 1 year before trying so I would know my cycles and regulate. Yeah, that didn't help me much. Around cycle 8 is when I guess I pretty much knew we'd be in for a long journey.
IVF #1 = BFP!! So blessed to have our baby boy!
IVF #2 = Convert to frozen - 1 frostie!
IVF #3 = Convert to frozen - 1 frostie!
FET #1 = 8/14, Two transferred, One stuck! Praying for another healthy miracle! Due: 5/2/13
I was always "concerned" given my lack of periods that it would be a challenge, but I didn't really know until I went to my ob/gyn and told her we were starting. Given my history, she ran some tests and that's when I was diagnosed.

I started mentioning to my OB that we were trying and nothing was happening after 6 months. I conceived my DD easily and was sure something was up. He ran every test/procedure in the book, misdiagnosed me with Asherman's, and finally 1.5 years from the start of the testing referred me to an RE.
The RE found the issues in my siggy. I am NOT returning to the idiot OB who wasted so much time for me that I don't qualify for any IVF funding because of my age (and I am completely OOP for IUI drugs and anything IVF)....but I'm not bitter.
I figured it out after we got married and start trying.... 3 months after trying, my periods became non-exsistent! Dr diagnosed mem with PCOS 8 months after...

Dx PCOS
2009 Apr, Aug, and Sept tried clomid cycles.... BFN. Oct...DH SA results were normal. Me...HSG - left tube was clear, right tube was slightly blocked. Dec - Clomid #4 200mg
Feb 2010 - IUI #1 200mg Clomid = BFN. June 2010 - IUI #2 200mg Clomid = BFN. March 2011 - IUI #3 w/ injectables = BFN (1st & last with RE, moving on to IVF). July 2011 - consult for IVF. Sept 2011, 1st IVF. Got our BFP on 10/2/11. Became a mom on 5/5/12 to a beautiful baby boy!
I was told by an ignorant doctor when I was 19 that I would never have kids. Thankfully, that "diagnosis" changed, but DH and I started trying for kids a little over 2 months before we got married. We knew from the get-go that it would be difficult....and so far, other than "Yes, you still have PCOS" and SA's low SC....there's been no progress in 14 months. Huge bummer!
TTC 7+ years - 3 failed IUI's; not going the IVF route; stopped treatment December 2013.
Became licensed for Foster Care: March 2011 Adoption Finalized: December 2013

I went off BC and for 7 months after I had the longest and most sporadic periods...I bled at one point for almost 2 months straight, had two weeks off and started another 20+ day period. I was told after 3 months by a nurse that sometimes i just takes that long to get regulated again...I came to find out once I got to my RE that the nurse should have had me come in for an appt...now I'm suspected to be PCOS and am currently on my third cycle of "assisted" TTC.
we had no idea - all my family is uber-fertile - my parents have 5 and 8 siblings each, all my aunts and uncles have kids (in most cases 2 or more)...
I had regular cycles most my life. I got married at 26 and the first time I started skipping periods EVER was when I turned 27. After skipping several months, I went to the dr and they tentatively gave me a pcos dx and told me I might need clomid to get pg.....then after a few rounds of provera, my cycles regulated again for 6-7 months....then they disappeared again, right when we started ttc....
to add even more salt to the wound, we got pg our first clomid try and lost the babies in the second tri...now we are trying again and having even more issues....this whole thing sucks...

When I was in college I had super irregular periods. I would get my period for like a month or two at a time and then wouldn't get it for months at a time. GYN said I prob had PCOS, put me on BCP to regulate my cycles. I then I moved away and never saw that GYN again. PCOS never came up again because we weren't TTC and I was on BCP so my periods were regular. The PCOS wasn't an issue.
About 2 years after we were married we decided to TTC and so I took myself off BCP. We weren't very aggressive; we figured we'd give it some time and see what happens.
After about a year and a half of trying on our own and no success, we sought help and the PCOS diagnosis came up again. I think DH and I were in denial for awhile. IF diagnosis is not an easy pill to swallow!

Re: curious- TTC
Seeing as I am one of 5 and both DH and his brotehr were *OOPS* pregnancies...
It never occurred to me that we may have a problem.
About 6 months in I was kinda feeling like "hmmmmm...."
By a year, I knew something was not right .

Before we ever started TTC, I had this feeling deep inside that it would not be easy.
I went of BCP about 4 years ago and we never had the "oopps" pregnancy. So I just had a feeling something was wrong.
I remember when DH told me he wanted to wait 6 months after the wedding to TTC, I lost it. I was terrified the longer we waited the worse it would be.
The irony? 6 months later it got worse. Go figure.
