Did Anyone Else Elope?

Just curious, since it looks like 99% of you have wedding pictures in your siggy or mention your wedding...

DH and I didn't have a wedding, we went the old JOP route.  We wrote no vows, we exchanged no words of meaning.  The whole thing took 15 minutes and then we went to Home Depot.  We actually got married on a Monday.

No but we considered it seriously but then we figured his brother already eloped and we thought what the heck, might as well have a big party!

I didn't but two of my sisters did and my dad did (the 2nd time around).

We sort of did.  We did go to the beach, just the two of us, and get married there on the sand.  But it did take a little planning and our families did know that we were going to be married there, so no stealing away to a chapel and surprising everyone with the new.  It was nice because we could do things our way, which is quiet without a lot of fuss and didn't have to worry about guests etc.  Plus even though it rained...we were still at the beach

Yes we did got married at disney and bought a home and a time share with the money we would've spent on the wedding!

My parents eloped 3 years ago! They were married in a tiny church in Canso, Nova Scotia where my aunt was baptised before she passed away!

We kind of did. We were going to go the JOP route and having a big party a few months later but my dad threw a fit and said if I was going to get married, I was going to have a wedding. By the time it was all said and done, I had 5 days to plan my entire wedding and ended up getting married at the community center because it rained and we couldn't get married outside like we planned.

We have lots of crazy memories that will stay with us forever but it was definitely not what I imagined my wedding to be.

No but if I had to do it again I definitely would have eloped! We had a destination wedding and even that turned out to be too much stress/family drama for my liking.

we got married at the courthouse on pretty short notice.  So yeah I suppose we did.  We didn't tell our families until after we'd done it.

No, but if I had to do it all over again I'd have a small, intimate wedding instead of the 500-guest party where I only knew 1/4 of the people there!

We would've done a destination wedding if my daddy wasn't so sick. When we got engaged we were planning the wedding for this May, but then decided to move it up due to the circumstances. I ended up planning my wedding in 3 months. Engaged in July, married Nov. 1st.

No, but I wish we did. Wedding planning was a nightmare and I hated every minute of it.

Technically we did. But we also had a ceremony and reception.

DH had a small health scare about 2 months before the wedding. I had health insurance through my job and at the time he wasn't able to have health insurance with his small business. Shortly after the health scare we got married in a court house so he could get on my plan a little earlier.

Our parents knew and my MOH, but that's it.

I wanted to but my mom and my MIL wanted to do a big old wedding. It was ok...but I would of loved to just go to the JOP. MIL only has 2 sons and my BIL eloped without telling her. It was a lot of pressure on us to have the "prefect wedding."

THIS! Ours was lovely in the end, but def more drama than necessary.

We didn't elope but we had a VERY small destination wedding.  Immediate family only, which meant 7 guests.  Still a lot of planning but it was perfect only having 7 people to worry about.

We eloped, then a year and a half later we had an actual wedding. We didn't tell anyone we were already married so till this day people still think we have only been married 2.5 years when in fact it's almost been four.
