I was wondering something about painting. When you paint a room, how do you do it? Do you have an accent wall or are they all the same color? Do you paint the celling the same color or do you leave it white/off white?
I haven't painted my house since it was bought and I need a change. My downstairs is all open for the most part. We live in a townhouse. You walk in my front door and can see thru to the dinning room with a quick turn you are in the kitchen. I am thinking of making each room its own color but I am afraid that it is going to be too much.
Any suggestions or ideas? I am trying to stay away from white, off white, eggshell and that whole group of colors. My living room has purple and green chairs and a sand color sofa (sounds weird but looks awesome) and the dinning room has nothing. We are getting a new dinning set soon.

Re: N3TCR: Painting
Only my experience, but it depends on the room and other factors. I have some rooms with accent wall, some with the ceiling matching the rest of the room, and some with no accent wall and a white ceiling.
You can totally make each room its own color. With an open floor plan, the key is to make the colors flow: maybe using the same color family, or all warm/cool colors, etc.
I'm a bright color kind of girl, so I think a mustard might look fabulous.
My living room, dining room and kitchen are 3 different colors from the same family. Kitchen is a light cafe au lait color, dining room is a more intense cafe au lait color and living room is a peachy-beige color with light blue accent wall (it sounds odd but looks nice).
Our bedroom is the sexy room. Cranapple accent wall (wine color) and the other walls are a color called french manicure (pale pink). It looks really nice together and our bedding coordinates with it.
