Re: ****** DE / GC check-in ******

  • Status: Went in for baseline u/s and b/w this morning, waiting to hear bit it'll probably be this afternoon or tomorrow morning before I hear something.

QOTD: HIMYM, Bones, Gray's (I'm sadly addicted)

  • QOTD:  For comedies I like, "How I Met Your Mother" and "Big Bang Theory".  There is a new drama called "The Good Wife" or something like that with Juliana Marguiles that looks good too.  I will have to wait until January for Lost  Sad

Update:  We have decided to move foward with the donor that just turned 30 this month.  Her health history is great and she is available now so that was the deciding factor.  Her last cycle was in December that that couple got pregnant.  The more I thought about it, the more I realized all of our friends have had kids after 30.  My mantra is "my poor fertility is not a reflection on anyone else's".  So once again, we are waiting for her to schedule screening with our clinic.  Let's hope this one can manage to not get pregnant or have any other bumps in the road.

  • BRS - yea!!  Sounds like she will be a great choice!  I'm so happy you are moving forward.

Hopecounts - this HAS to be it for you.  HAS. TO.  Keeping everything crossed!!

RFB - hon, what can I say - this sucks.  I am glad you are moving forward with the FET.  On the network54 board I've noticed a LOT of ladies have better luck with FETs than with fresh cycles, so please don't give up yet!!

QOTD: I am ashamed to say I am eagerly awaiting Grey's and Private Practice.  Guilty pleasures!  I'm also very excited that Top Chef is back since there are two Seattle chefs, one of whom has been a great fundraiser for the cancer center where I work.

Update: things here are fine - Nubbin seems to be doing well.  Next doctor's visit is in a week, but it's just a weight/bp check.  I think the one after that (28w) is the 1 hour glucose test.  I'm hoping to pass and not have to admit that my diet has been less than stellar!

OK ladies, I hope all is well!!

  • Good luck to everyone, wherever you are in the process!!

Status:  only thing new is that I failed my 1 hour glucose test, so, I have to do the 3 hour this week.  Other than that, baby is growing and, as far as we know (see, I can never get past the worry) doing fine.

QOTD - I'm waiting for some of the comedies to come back.  Also, there's a show from a hospital about transplants that I'm looking forward to.  Oh, and House.  I'm such a TV whore!

  • Thank you ladies for all your thoughts and prayers.  I'm not going to lie to you - the BFN royally sucks and it'll take a while before DH and fully over it.

I'm wishing everyone lots of luck on your current/up coming cycles!

Update:  DH and I decided to proceed with our FET asap.  We don't want to put it off because we know our attitudes won't change.  If it doesn't work again, we can move on to adoption.  Obviously we're hoping for the best, but our hopes aren't as high since we only have two 6 cell embies to work with.  Epphd, thank you for letting me know that you've seen women on the network54 board who've had better luck with a FET than a fresh cycle.  It helps to hear stories like that.

QOTD:  I love DWTS and I can't wait for the new season.  I'm also looking forward to seeing Glee and Community.  I prefer comedies - I don't watch any dramas.

  • RFB - So sorry about your BFN.  {{{hugs}}}

BRS - That is great news about making the decision to use the donor now.  I think you are safe with her age, too.  I agree with your "mantra" - lots of my friends have gotten pg after 30 (even some in late 30s).  Good luck!!

Best of luck to everyone else in your cycles!

QOTD:  I watch way too much tv, and mostly reality tv.  I think the show I am looking forward to the most is So You Think You Can Dance.  I love that show!  I am also looking forward to the new show "The Good Wife".

Update:  I have started feeling the baby just a little, which is exciting.  We are planning to order our furniture this weekend, because there is a "one day" sale happening.  Things are starting to pick up.

I hope everyone has a great week!!!  The weather is beautiful in KC - so I hope it is nice where you are, too!

Hello EPPHD Which sub-board in the network54 board do you read?

  • Hello all -

RFB - I'm so sorry about the BFN but I am happy to see that you are jumping right back in with an FET!!  Good luck!

BRS - I think it is great that you selected the donor and are moving forward.  I think your mantra is awesome!!

LRB - good luck on your 3-hour test - fingers crossed that you pass!

QOTD - I am a total Lost fan - so I hate that I have to wait for that.  Otherwise I am happy that Top Chef and Project Runway have started already - I love those two shows!

Update - last week I passed V-day (viability day) and it was surprisingly a big relief to me.  We are now feeling more confident and have begun to buy nursery furniture.  I take the glucose test soon and I dread it - my diet is iffy at best these days.

  • Good afternoon all!

Status update: I just returned from a trip home to Pittsburgh to visit family and friends. Great trip, but whew, I'm beat!

So...... I told my parents everything. They were supportive, but expressed grave concerns about high-order multiples. When I told mom those are not typical IVF results, she said "Then why are they all over the news??" Thank you, sensationalist mediaAngry

Dad was concerned about my AMA and not too tactful about it at first, but that's because he already has two disabled grandchildren (neither case is maternal age-related).  So I reluctantly explained the DE part of it, for which I expected a lot of distaste, but they were actually OK with it.

RFBs - I'm so sorry. Best of luck with your FET!

QOTD: 30 Rock, Momday Night Football  and the return of Jay Leno!!

  • Oct14- the board BRS linked to is the one I was mentioning. I haven't been on in a little while but it's a great resource.

SMS - I'm glad your parents were ultimately supportive.  Man, I know what you mean about the media!!  How boring would the news be if all they reported was "singleton baby born from IVF" every day - no, much more interesting mention octomom as often as humanly possible...

  • I'm a little late but...posting from Poland on vacation so can't really complain :)

QOTD: House, totally! other than that we tend to watch a lot of geeky docs and pbs-type shows. I am NOT looking forward to NFL season - I don't mind football but it just seems like there is too much of it. Office - was going to be looking forward to it but now that Pam is pg I don't think it will be so funny. Bah.

wonderful news BRS - good luck! and rfs, I am so sorry. I hope your FET can get going ASAP.

    B/G twins!
