Honestly really wasn't bad at all, the worst part was sitting there for an hour after I waited a half hour to get my drink. The drink was the fruit punch and tasted just like really sweet Hawaiian Punch..nothing I couldn't stomach. Now I just have to wait 48 hours to see the results of the test. They only took 3 vials of blood too. Good luck to everyone else who has to take it, don't stress about it!
Re: Thoughts on GD Test..
When I did this one and the 4 hour GD test with my son, I had to drink the terrible orange stuff. GROSS!
Yay for you for having fruit punch!
I love my doctor's office- they give you the orange drink at the appt. before the GD test. ?You drink it at home, drive to the lab within 1 hour, and have your blood drawn. ?Done.
And people- it's a tiny bottle of what tastes like Sunkist. ?Seriously no big deal. ?The 3 hour is way worse.?

I had two vials taken after drinking an orange liquid that was more like sweet Gatorade than anything else.
Wasn't too bad ... and the lab supposedly processed the results and returned them to my OB the same afternoon. This was yesterday, so I'm hoping no news is good news. The wait was okay (I was writing shower thank you notes), but I wouldn't want the three hour.
If possible, go first thing in the morning when the lab opens. They are much more apt to get you in and out as quickly as possible. That and I was starving!!!
You should have already had those tests done about 10 weeks ago. Didn't your OB request blood work?
If you don't want the orange, ask if they have other flavors. At mine, they just normally grab the orange. I asked if they have other flavors and the nurse seemed surprised. They also had the fruit punch.
I'm lucky in that I got to take take it home with me. They told me drink it about 30 minutes prior to coming in, taking in to account the time I started and finished and then let them know the times when I arrive so they can get me tested. They also only do the finger prick, not vials.
