We will be staying in our 1BR for about a year after the baby is born. I'm wondering what you are planning to do for a crib in the bedroom? We've thought of a co-sleeper but would prefer something that would last up to a year. Any suggestions?
We will be in a 1 bedroom for the 1st year of our baby's life too. We are buying a regular crib and putting it into our bedroom. We found a way to fit it in.
We want to get a convertable that will also turn into a toddler bed and eventually a headboard. We figured we would get the most use out of a piece like that.
We are currently in limbo (closing on our house finally in about 2 weeks) and have been staying in my parents MIL apartment for the last 6 months with our 16 month old in the same room. It has really not been that bad. We was in our room in our old house with us until 4 months when he started sitting up in his bassinet, then we moved him to his nursery. now, he is in our room in his regular crib since he doesn't have a nursery at the moment. At first we hung a sheet from the ceiling so he couldn't see us, but we have taken it down now and he has adjusted fine. I think if you have room for the regular crib in your room and they are there from the beginning you should be fine.
We're lucky enough that we have enough room for a second dresser for LO and use the top as a changing table. After LO grows out of the Co-sleeper, we'll set up the crib at the end of our bed. We also have a Pack n' Play downstairs in the living room
we're planning on using a bassinet instead of a full on crib for now.
We are planning on doing the same. Or getting a mini crib. Our bedroom is surprisingly large, but so is our bed, so the available space is a deffinite issue. We will go for a wooden bassinet or mini crib. I for one want my little one close to me for a long time, so there is no need for a crib until we move into a bigger place.
EDIT: Wal-Mart has some cute modern mini cribs that I love. Just search mini crib in the search of Wal-Mart.com or even google it.

Our room is a little tight. Anyone have suggestions for a smaller/mini crib?
The Da Vinci brand that is available online from both BRU and Target has mini cribs. They are available in multiple finishes and styles. Here is a link to an example that also converts to a toddler bed.

DH and I are in a 1BR with a super funky layout - we definitely CANNOT fit a full sized crib in our room. I bought a cradle instead of a bassinet...it's a little bigger, holds baby up to 6 months instead of 3 so it will give us more time to figure out what we are doing/if we are moving, etc. AND, they sell really cute mini crib bedding for the cradles, so I got to feel like I was setting up a "real" nursery even though it's just a tiny corner of our room. We are putting a changing table, rocker, etc. in the office "nook" part of our living room. Baby's room is essentially split into 2 areas. Meh. Not ideal, but coming together nicely. Good luck!
We are in a 1br but have this little cove type thing off the living room. Its about 9x9 so we have made it into a little mock nursery. If we didnt have that space, we would have put the crib in our room.

We're in a 1 bedroom until we move next spring.

Our friends are in a one bedroom and they are using a fancy pack and play that has a bassinet set up.
