Anyone have Verizon?

I have no clue what states they are in, but I'm sure it's not just Florida. We are thinking of switching to them for cable, internet and phone. My only problem is they charge for service calls where our current provider does not. In the last 2 years we've had our cable people out to the house too many times to count. Some months we don't have to call, others it's once a week because their equipment is not working properly.

Does anyone have Verizon? If you do, any complaints?

Re: Anyone have Verizon?

  • Do you mean just regular service with Verizon or are you thinking of Verizon Fios?  The IL's have fios and they are very happy with it.  We have Verizon internet, Directv billed through Verizon, and had a home phone with them at one point but we would not have needed to pay for service calls should there be any problems, that's what we paid $5/mo for for insurance for the lines should anything go wrong.

I would expect for Fios, service issues would be written into a contract as to how they'd be taken care of.

  • We have everything through Verizon. Fios TV, internet, phone and cell phones.  Its cheaper than cable and we get a lot more channels.  We have been very happy with it.  Our only problem is that if you have to call for some reason ... good luck.  You can do some stuff through your account online, but if you have to call and talk to someone, they have this stupid computer you talk to.  We end up yelling at the thing for an hour before we finally get a live person on the phone.  I think DH said that they've recently changed that though so it isn't such a hassle.

  • we had the verizon bundle (phone, internet, cable which was actually DIRECTV )in VA and we hated it.  they were constanly charging us for random things, i.e. extra internet and cable features.

Make sure you pay attention to your bill.  I had to call every month about random charges..

  • We have Verizon in Wisconsin here.  We only have them for cell phone service.  My BIL works for them, actually, which is the only reason we switched (had been with AT&T).  They're OK.  I have been underwhelmed by their customer service, which is supposed to be the best, as far as cell companies go.  I would NOT switch to a carrier that charged for service calls though, not when you are with someone who does NOT charge.  Our internet/ landlind/ cable provider does not charge for service calls & I LOVE that!!
