BBT question

I got my thermometer at Walmart...it was the only one they had. Well, last night I felt like I had a fever and I couldn't find the regular thermometer so I used the BBT. It registered 97.44. About that time, DH realized where the ear one was at, so I took it and was gonna compare the 2. It registered 98.1.

This morning, I was taking my BBT and it started beeping like crazy and my temp was 100.45. Remembering the difference, I took it with the ear thermometer and it said 100.9. Which should I trust? Should I get a different BBT? Have y'all noticed any differences like this? I was thinking since I took it one right after the other that it'd be closer than that. 

Sorry if this is a stupid question Embarrassed I'm new to all this.

    Ear thermometers are not very accurate at all, they say that it is okay when precise temps don't matter, but when using it for things that 1 degree makes a difference to not use them at all.
    A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
    After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!

    bbts aren't meant to go above 100, that is why it beeped like crazy. That is why you need both kinds. BBTs for charting and a regular for things like fevers.
