PUPPS Marks... Still!

I still have PUPPS marks, I am convinced they are now scars.

Anyone go to a derm that helped them with this issue? I suppose I need to go back, I did the steroid cream but now... I think it is turn into scars :(

Re: PUPPS Marks... Still!

  • I guess the 1 percent of preg women who have gotten the baby rash aren't on tonight :( I can't stand my preg rash.

  • I had PUPPS and the rash continued until 10 days pp. The marks got darker and are now starting to fade. I have pretty bad stretch marks too. I am using every lotion imaginable. I like Fruit of the Earth Vitamin E.

  • You poor thing.  4 months is really long to have it.  My doctor said some women keep it for a couple months, at most, afterward.  Mine went away instantly.  I would go to a dermatologist.  If you're not BFing I'm sure they have something that will clear it up in no time.
  • I think I have scares. They are dark kind of shiny places where the ichy bumps were. The bad thing is that they are on my legs and so nothing but pants for me :(

  • I didn't have very many stretch marks at all until I got PUPPPS. THen they all showed up. I don't have actual PUPPPS marks (I don't think), but my stretch marks are still there. Fading, but there.
  • I'm a pediatric derm PA, but we see adults and I've seen several cases of PUPPS...either way, it's treated as any other rash; After an "insult" or "injury" to the skin, including rashes, you get whats called "post-inflammatory changes"...totally normal! They can either be white spots, or even dark spots (the majority are white spots --> called post-inflammatory hypopigmentation). It takes MONTHS to go away, sometimes up to a year. There is NOTHING you can do for it but sunscreen. The skin just needs to heal completely. If you have white spots (hypopigmentation), those spots will not tan, the rest of the skin will tan, so it will look worse; if you have dark spots (hyperpigmentation), the sun will darken the spots and it will take longer to go away.

Sorry, just hang in there! It will eventually go away!

  • thanks so much for the info.  I really scratched myself good because it was itching from the inside... I had the rash worst on my belly, legs and butt. It spread to my face even and also on my toes. It was pretty crazy. The strangest part is that when I held my baby the rash would appear when her skin touched my skin. My belly has a white lines, silvery looking up close, but from a distance looks red. It seems to be very deep into the skin :(
