clarification about weaning question w/ additional ?

I posted below re: self-weaning vs. mommy weaning.  What I was really wondering is when (if at all) number of nursings will decrease?  I am not at all ready to completely wean, but I am thinking that eventually 3 nursings + solids would be easier than 6 nursings + solids.

Does this happen naturally w/ LO when more and more solids come into play?

I didn't read your original post, but the answer to this question is probably.  :-)

At her birthday, my daughter was nursing 5-6 times a day.  I started practicing "don't offer, don't refuse" - I would nurse her any time she requested it but didn't automatically offer to nurse at any time other than first thing in the morning.  Somewhere between 13 and 14 months she went down to 3 nursing sessions a day on her own and that was also when she started eating more at mealtimes.

She self-weaned at 22 months.

I think we're at that point.  I introduced solids a little after 6 months.  We're now at 2 solid meals a day.  Before we introduced solids, we were doing 6 nursing sessions.  About 2 weeks ago, he really only wanted 5 1/2 nursing sessions.  We're now at 5 nursing sessions, with an occasional 1/2 nursing session (I think more for comfort than hunger).  I'm hoping this schedule stays as is for a couple of months at least.  Otherwise, I'll start worrying about him not getting enough milk.

We weaned down to 3 nursing sessions naturally, more or less, at 14 months. I helped things along a little by introducing whole milk and now she drinks about 6 ounces of whole milk per day and nurses 3 times. If we're out and about, she'll nurse a 4th time instead of having the whole milk.

Every baby is different, though. DD started eating a fair amount of solids around 9 months (3 meals a day & 2 snacks), but loved her milk anyway and kept nursing several times a day for months after.
