Working Moms

any advice?

After 6 months home, I'll be rejoining the work world again next week! I am very excited to go back to my job, but I'm getting a little sad about not being with DD so much.  Any advice for making this an easier transition for both of us?

She'll be at home with my MIL until after her surgery, so until mid-November, then daycare.

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

Re: any advice?

  • I am going in part time this week and then full time next week to try and make the transition easier for both of us. I just don't want mommy to suddenly be gone for 10 hours a day. Hopefully this plan will help.

  • If you can, do a couple weeks of shorter days, or at least start the work week later in the week.  It really helped me not starting 1st thing on a Monday.

Know that there are good days and bad days, and on the really bad days you'll question why you do what you do, and on the good days you'll feel like you are SuperMom/SuperWoman.  Most days are in the middle.

Oh, and be prepared for any delays for your return home, such as meetings that run late, traffic, etc to piss you off, at least for the first little while.

    It will be okay.  Promise.
