Breech and Downs

I've had a soft marker on my 20 wk u/s (dilated kidneys), which decreased at 28 weeks...now my baby is presenting breech at 32 weeks...I've stupidly googled and read a link between breech and some birth defects, in particular T21...does anyone with a child who has Downs presented breech, too??

i have not met one mom who has a child with Down syndrome who had a breech baby.  not saying that it can't happen, but i personally don't know of any.  i've also never heard of any correlation between a baby with Down syndrome and being breech.

Wow - I felt like I was reading my story when I read your post! ?At our 20 week u/s, we were told DD had dilated kidneys. ?At 28 weeks, one kidney was in the normal range and the other had gone down, but was still dilated. ?At 32 weeks, both kidneys were in the normal range, but DD was now breech. ?I googled breech presentations simply to learn more about them and came across similar info - a high percentage of breech babies are born with Downs. ?I was instantly concerned. ?However, at 39 weeks, DD was delivered via c/s and is perfectly healthy except for a mild case of hip dysplasia due to the breech presentation.

Thanks for your response...it's comforting to hear from someone who has been through such a similar experience, because I feel like nobody understands. Did you have any other prenatal testing? We had the triple screen (NT scan, later bloodwork) and it came back lowest risk possible (1 in 10,000) and I keep trying to remind myself of that,

We didn't have any other screenings done which is partly why I think I had a heightened concern. ?Definitely use your screening results as a way to ease your mind!
