Just got back from the doctor. Jace is doing fine- he's already 6.8 lbs according to the u/s (which I understand can be off some). But the doctor got one look at my cankles and gasped. I've had no swelling til now. I also have trace (no big deal) amounts of protein in my urine and my BP was higher than normal (I've had no BP issues prior til now except for the day my rings were "gone"). All of these factors plus the fact that I have a 3 hour commute a day (an hour and a half each way), she felt it best to put me on partial bedrest. I will still be working- just from home.
Anyway, so I just told my boss. He was fine with it. He knows I'll still be working so that's good.
As far as induction, if my cervix is favorable, she wants to induce at 39 weeks. She knows that I am not a fan and neither is she. But due to age, all of the other factors, etc, it might just make sense. I did stress that if I really wanted to avoid a c-section if possible so induction is definitely something I'd like to avoid. We're on the same page.
Anyway, hope everyone is doing well! ![]()
Re: I'm on partial bedrest.
you'll be awesome! I think you are such a strong woman!
you have been so helpful to me :-) just to let ya know
Oh, sorry for the bedrest Jen.... at least you don't have much longer to go. So 39 weeks, are we looking at Sept 14th?
Thats so exciting!!!
Not quite sure of the date yet. She wants to check again next week. NERVOUS!
Partial bedrest might do the trick. Don't panic yet about the induction. Give the bedrest a go and see how you do next week. Either way, know that you're in good hands and Jace is growing and thriving!
You're getting close, girl! So happy for you!
When I asked my nurse about swelling when mine was first starting she said, "Never stand when you can sit and never sit when you can lie down." Those were her grandmother's words of advice. I find myself thinking of that phrase more and more lately. Especially at the end of my 12 hour shift on Wednesdays!
You'll do fine. Put your feet up and daydream of meeting Jace. Enjoy these last few weeks! Even if it's from a prone position!
Partial bedrest may not be a bad thing. Just relax and enjoy your last moments before baby comes! Wow a 3 hour commute. I give you lots of credit. It's nice to have the option to work from home. GL to you!
I hope the bedrest ends up being a blessing. Your schedule sounds really tough to me.
You might try to start having intercourse now -- there is prostagladin (sp?) in semen, which is what they give you to soften and ripen your cervix. Starting now will give it time to take effect. And when your due date gets closer you might want to try the breast pump and see if you can get contractions going that way.
I am with you on not wanting an induction.
Oh Jen - I am thinking of you! I am sure you will bed rest like a superstar! You have done so well and are such a positive ray of light for everyone - just put those tooties up and have some "you" time! You deserve it!!
xo
Hang in there, Jen! (((HUG)))
And induction does NOT mean c-section?I delivered vaginally, even with my tear (follow-up tomorrow with my OB) and I seem to be healing well.
You just take care of yourself and baby Jace will be here in no time.

Make sure you actually rest and keep your feet up!!
It is wonderful your boss is letting you work from home and you are not using up any sick/maternity leave/vacation time for it.
You're all so awesome. Thanks for your encouraging words. I am okay with it all because I am drained now anyway and need the time to relax before LO gets here.
I see it as a blessing for sure.
Hope all is going well!
Not having to deal with that long commute will help your stress level, I'm sure! Take good care of yourself-you will be meeting little Jace soon!
