Infertility

What do you do for exercise?

Since I've started this, my first round of IVF, I've gotten back into work out (used to take four Spin classes a week before I started IUIs-stopped becuase I felt like I was being too hard on my body, and haven't really worked out since).  I only do some form of cardio (elliptical, walking) for 35-40 minutes.  Is this enough ?  What do you do?  I know I'm not going to be able to work out around the ER/ET, but other than that, what advice can you give me?

  • Well, any exercise is good... but I am not sure when you ask "is it enough?"

Enough for you to maintain weight?

Have you started your stim drugs yet? Because I know other than  a light stroll, I am not allowed to workout while stimming .

ditto.     when i was just on bcp (and probably while on bcp+lupron) i would do 30 minutes on the elliptical a few times/week....  nothing high impact.    once i start stims, though, i will keep to walking on the treadmill when dh goes to workout.

Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
    Because we're fancy like that.

  • This is a great question!  I do pure barre (similar to the Bar Method) at the beginning of my cycle and then tend to do nothing in the 2WW.  My RE says light exercise is fine.  When I told the nurse about my class and asked her if it was OK she said if you have to ask I wouldn't do it....so frustrating.  So anyway I am probably not much help, but I am very interested to see the answers to this.
  • I'm not trying to lose weight necessarily...just trying to stay as healthy as I can.  Although I can bear to lose a few pounds (or 30!) I know that now's not the time for that....thanks for all the responses!
