Q about location of ET

I found out Friday that DH's MESA and my ER will be at different hospitals which I thought was kind of weird. Like whose job is it to rush sperm to egg in Houston traffic? Turns out the hospitals are only about 5 miles from one another, but my question is, where do they do the ICSI? And where do they do the ET? For those who have gone through ET, was it at the RE's office or in a hospital? I would just like to know where everything takes place. Thanks

Re: Q about location of ET

  • it must all depend on your office..... ours does everything on-site, but it is a big university hospital complex.
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
    Because we're fancy like that.

  • My clinic had a main facility where ET and ERs would take place but different locations for appointments.  It was not done in a hospital setting though just their main clinic. I would call your clinic and ask as each place has different protocols.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!

  • My clinic does everything on-site.  But I'm sure your doctors have it all under control.

  • What clinic do you go to in Houston (feel free to PM me with that if you don't want to broadcast)?  I am in Houston too and, at my clinic, the ER, DH's sample, ICSI, and ET were all done at the IVF lab which is on the floor below the RE's office.

I would assume that all ICSI would happen in the embryology lab but, have no clue if every clinic has their own lab or if they use a lab out of a hospital.

Did your clinic give you any answers as to who you drive thru traffic?

  • I go to HFI in Katy. I guess this is like everything else... it just depends on the clinic. I am sure they have it all under control. It just makes me laugh that someone out there's job is "sperm driver" LOL. I'm sure they deliver a lot of other things too, it's just a funny thought.
