insurance coverage

anyone work for an employer who has common health insurance across all locations. Dh works for a company that has west and east coast offices and they have been having different insurance plans at each location and the premium just keeps going up. I was wondering if they could save money by consolidating both locations under one plan. Anyone have experience with this?

Re: insurance coverage

  • I worked for a company years ago that was purchased by another company. Our plans were both good, just slightly different as far as premiums and some benefits.

The reps from both companies hammered out a plan that met somewhere in the middle as far as premiums and rolled it out within weeks.

  • I work in CA, but my company is headquartered in MA.  My insurance is MA-based.  This way, they get a better group discount.

I am thankful I have it, because MA mandates IF coverage and CA doesn't!  I haven't hit any walls.  It's UnitedHealthcare PPO, so I haven't had any issues.

  • I know.  I really, really, really lucked out and I am so thankful.  When I took the job, I didn't know we had IF issues, so seeing that we had 4 IVFs covered was a shock.  I wish everyone had IF coverage.  :(
