MFI Weekly Check In
This group is for those of us dealing with male factor issues. We
welcome everyone but mostly we are dealing with low count, motility,
morphology
or all three. Male infertility is a mysterious world filled with
questions no one, including REs, urologists, acupuncturists or anyone
else seem to have the answers to. Any treatment suggested is a coin
toss for success and a 3 month wait for a fresh batch of swimmers. Most
of us are told the only answer is IUI or IVF w/ICSI. The purpose of
this group is to support each other through shared experiences and to
share any info we can because the more informed we are the better. We
have a check in every Sunday night/ Monday morning but I will try to
post a link later in the afternoon/evening also. Welcome and baby dust
to all!

Feel free to suggest a Question of the Week by replying here or emailing me at MFI.Support@gmail.com!
QOTW: Has your DH changed his lifestyle at all since his MFI diagnosis (ie stopped drinking, exercise more, etc)?
Re: ****MFI Check In*****
HI ladies!
QOTW: He cut caffeine and baths. He talks about drinking less and exercising more, but that hasn't moved past the "talking about it" stage ; )
Update: Still on Lupron, hope to start stims next week
update: started lupron last night for IVF#1. it was a piece of cake... now we're just on that until my baseline u/s and b/w on 9/2, with the hopes of starting stims 9/4. its getting very real now.
qotd: dh got serious about taking a daily vitamin, he was extremely careful about how he used his laptop, and he stopped using tabacco products. we thought it all helped, but then his numbers started to tank again for our 2nd and 3rd IUI (which, oddly enough, is when he got serious about exercising). but now we've got a frozen sample banked that we'll be using for all IVF cycles, so he doesn't have to be AS careful anymore...
Because we're fancy like that.
Update: DH has his vericocele surgery on Wednesday morning. His urologist seems very optimistic that this will help with his morphology a great deal. I hope so!! Please say a quick little prayer for him if you get a chance..this is his first time having surgery.
QOTD: Yes, he has changed his lifestyle dramatically. He used to drink A LOT. Probably 5+ beers a night, every night. He has cut back to 1, maybe 2 beers a night. He also used to take scalding hot showers and he's cooled them down. And he takes his Fertility Blend daily. He kind of eased up on all of this when his urologist blamed his low morph on his vericocele but he realizes how every little thing helps so he is doing well.
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
Update: We're on a break cycle while waiting to see our new doctor. I'll take progesterone in my LP, but other than that it will be med/ IF treatment free.
QOTD: My DH LOVES to take baths....although in our first few years of marriage (before TTC) he only took a handful at our place. However, at hotels and his parents house he would look forward to it. So he cut those out and jokes that that is the first thing he will do when I get pg.
He also takes some vitamins daily.
My blog: Making Me Mom
UPDATE: Some improvement on post surgical SA. Morph went from 0 to 1% strict, motility improved too! I start 50 mg of clomid this week for our 1st treatment cycle! Finally! Back to back IUI's.
QOTW: He has cut out the hot tub at the gym, occassionally takes a vitamin and rolls his eyes at me when I tell him to cut back on the social drinking. I think he figures he did his part with the surgery. WRONG!
Update: IUI#!1 was a failure. Trying IUI w/ clomid again this cycle.
QOTW: My DH is trying just about everything. He is on vitamins, seeing an acupuncturist who is putting him on herbs, eating better, and he has an appt with the urologist on Thursday.
I just started another 2ww. Next month is a break cycle followed by IUI around the 25th of Oct. So we are just waiting. DH is still on clomid. I think he will have another follow up SA before we start IUI in October.
QOTD: He quit smoking and cut back on the booze. He also started taking more vitamins.
No real update on us - waiting to start IVF # 1 at the end of September. Just got AF today so no break cycle BFP for me this month.
QOTW: Has your DH changed his lifestyle at all since his MFI diagnosis (ie stopped drinking, exercise more, etc)? No sadly, not really - they only thing he is doing now is wearing boxers and taking vitatmins.
UPDATE: I'm on my last week of BCPs and we'll be starting our stims soon. Can't wait for IVF#1 to get rolling!
QOTW: My H has always paid attention to his health, but is now taking specific vitamins and supplements.
Hi, can you add 'low on all 3' to my dx, please?
I put my update in the wrong place before: I'm on CD1 for hopefully what might be our first IUI cycle. He and I both go in for bloodwork on Wed., so I can get on clomid and for infectious disease (TX). I'll also have my first u/s then.
Also, QOTW: he started taking the fertility supplement (one of which we thought his urologist must have gotten a kickback on for suggesting) and doens't get in hot tubs when we're at hotels. He also does some internet research on his 'stuff'!
QOTW: Has your DH changed his lifestyle at all since his MFI diagnosis (ie stopped drinking, exercise more, etc)?
He started taking vitamins and supplements, stopped drinking except for the occasional beer and eats a lot healthier. We both need to exercise more. he also decided to tell his parents, which reallly surprised me.
As always, give an update as well!
waiting to complete an eval of my liver mass before my RE will give us the go ahead to cycle. Last scan is tuesday... at that point we'll get the results of the liver scan and the liver blood tests and hopefully get the go ahead to cycle in november.
