ER Q

I know you have to be home after the ER... but did anyone need an extra day off? I'm trying to plan ahead as best as I can..

TIA

Re: ER Q

  • I did, after IVF #1.  But I had OHSS and was in major, major pain.  I was fine after IVF #2's ER.

    GL!

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • I did not.  I slept the entire day of my ER (it was at 7am) and then rested the next day b/c I could, it was a Sunday, but I could have sat at my desk if needed.

1st IVF - took day of ER off and went back to work the next day

2nd IVF - did the same, but had OHSS and left halfway through the day b/c i was in so much pain.

you shouldn't need more than that 1 day off.  GL!

  • What day is your ER?  Mine is tomorrow!  I originally was told (at IVF consult) I could return to work the day after ER (I work as a nurse in a hospital).  I went for a monitoring appt on Sat (day 9 of stims) and was found to have beginning stages of OHSS.  RE doesn't want me working until after my ET.  So I'll be off after my ER so that my OHSS doesn't worsen.  I think if you don't have OHSS or any other complications from ER, then you should be fine to return to work.  But I haven't been through an ER before.  Ask your RE for sure. Good luck!

  • My ER was this past Thursday and I just now feel well enough to do normal tasks.  I don't have OHSS (they scanned yesterday), but I was so bloated it was very uncomfortable.

I was told that I would be okay the day after ER, but that wasn't the case for me.  However it seems to be the case for most people.  You might want to keep the day after your ER "open" in case you don't feel well.  Good luck!!
