What is the difference? There seems to be perinatologists AND maternal fetal ob-gyns. Are they the same type of specialists or do the maternal fetal obs more likely to take over all care? TIA.
i'm pretty sure they're the same. i had two MFMs (i switched doctors halfway through.) one wouldn't have delivered me, one would have, so i guess it's not that.
I thought a peri and MFM were the same. Although I would love if there was an OB in our area with perinatologist training, because I'd love to do everything with one doctor!! The only peri in our area is there for all of the specialist stuff, but very rarely has patients transferred completely to his care.
