I want sheets that don't pill

Do you have any suggestions?  I have one set of sheets that haven't gotten pills with time.  I have no idea what kind of sheets they are.  They're awesome though.  Despite being oh, 5 years old or so, they're still super soft.

Educate me on sheet purchases!  I feel like I've tried lots of different kinds, but I can't find any like this set!

ETA:  Sorry!  This would be sheets for us.

We have an organic sheet set from PB similar to these that we LOVE.  Super soft, doesnt pill at all.  Totally worth the $$ in my book.

  • Even though the Baby Bargains book rated them terribly, I really like the Koala Baby jersey sheets from BRU. I think they wash really nice and are so soft.

The Carters sheets are total crap, imo.

  • If you're talking sheets for you, I highly reccomend 400+ thread count sheets.  No pilling and super soft & comfy.

For LO, I second the Koala Baby sheets.  I haven't had any issues with the jersey or the flannel.

  • Are you talking about for you or your DS?  If you are talking about for you - QVC sells the best sheets by Northern NIghts!  I've had better luck with them than ANY sheet I've ever bought at a department store or Bed Bath and Beyond.  I even have flannel sheets by them that don't pill.  When DS goes to his big bed I'll get his sheets from there too.

If you mean for your DS, they are almost all crap!  I have 2 I like.  I came with the crib set (which is by kidsline).  It is cotton, super soft, and has stayed really nice despite LOTS of washing.  I also have a Flannel crib sheet that is an Organic by George (Wal-Mart) and I love it too.  I have to say, the George baby bedding stuff is some of my favorites!  Circo and Carters make crappy sheets.  I haven't tried anything else.

  • I have a set from Pottery Barn too that I take off once a week and put back on (I only have 1 set so I don't rotate). I've had them about 4 yrs and no pilling to date!

  • It's all about thread count and so worth it.  If you have any bedding outlet type places you can sometimes find 600 for about $50.  I get mine at Home Goods.

  • See - I don't like the super-high thread counts.  I like about a 400 tc.  I've owned 700 tc sheets too and I think the weave of the fabric is getting so tight that the sheets don't really feel soft anymore.  They do wash well, but I prefer a lower tc to sleep on.
  • I bought a set of cheap sheets from Target. Have no idea what their thread count is. They are really soft and comfy, though. I think the brand is Room Essentials.
  • I also find that the term "sateen" means less pilling in high thread count sheets. Just high thread count cotton can still pill. And sometimes the super-high tread counts are misleading. I think they count each fiber that is part of a single thread, if that makes sense.
  • High thread count or not, ours always pilled until we got the sateen jersey fabric sheets from BBB. We've now had them for 4ish years and they look and feel brand new still. We only have 2 sets and rotate them, so they get used a lot! I can't remember the brand of them, but I don't think BBB carried more then one brand of that material. They were somewhere between $50-100 for King sized set (I know I bought a set on sale for cheap and then I think non-sale it was 100 minus the 20% coupon I used). Keep in mind though that the higher the thread count, the softer the sheet, but also the less sturdy because of that. That's what I love about the jersey ones. Super soft w/out sacrificing sturdiness ;)

  • The best sheets I've ever bought were Kirkland's Signature 100% Pima cotton from Costco and they were $75 for a king size set.  They are sateen weave but I'm not sure of the threadcount.  250 or 300, I think.
