Another Eye Twitch Post!

I am about to go insane!  My left eyelid will NOT stop twitching!  It has been like this for 3 days and I feel like I have a disorder...  Someone posted about this a week or so ago...  what gives?  I guess it's another lovely pregnancy symptom?

I had one in my right eye for a few days!!  I felt like everyone could see it and I felt like a total weirdo.  It went away though, but now that I'm thinking about it, it will probably come back!   I read that it's a symptom of pregnancy.

It can also happen if you use the computer alot...mine used to twitch when I was on the computer at work and then at home for school.

This has happened to me before, although not while pregnant, just when I'm super stressed.  My eye doctor told me to drink tonic water - it contains quanine (sp?) which is an old remedy for muscle/nerve twitching.  I think the stuff tastes awful, I drank some, but not alot, and eventually (maybe a week) it went away.

Hey!  I'm an eye doc and get asked about this symptom A LOT.  Several things can cause it:  stress, lack of sleep, too much caffeine, frequent squinting, dehydration, or sometimes it just happens because the synapse controlling that muscle is firing rapidly (i.e. we don't know why it's happening).  Best things to do are to drink plenty of water and get lots of rest.  In severe cases we'll prescribe certain antidepressants to help the twitching or even suggest Botox injections which can paralyze the muscle---neither of which you want during your pregnancy!!  GL, hope it stops!

I use to get this (not while pregnant) though. It was from the medication I was taking for migraines. Once I stopped taking it, it went away.
